level of protection with after 2 of the 3 Hep B shots

Does anyone know the level of protection offered after having had 2 jabs of the 3 in the Hep B vaccine series? I had them in the summer of 2003. I didn't complete the course because I developed the first attack of MS about 3 months after the 2nd shot. Of course, there is no proven relationship between HepB vaccine and MS, but I figured since I didn't need it, better safe than sorry; travel doc agreed.

However, I will be in Africa for a while soon, and although I am not in any of the risk groups for contracting the virus (barring unforseen need for medical procedures), I was curious to know how much protection having had 2 out of the 3 jabs would confer. One doc at the travel clinic said around 80%, while the literature presents different conclusions.

Any thoughts?

I don't know how much protection you have from 2 out of 3 shots but I do know there seems to be a connection between the HBV vaccine and MS...

A potential link between the recombinant hepatitis B vaccine and an increased risk of multiple sclerosis (MS) has been evaluated in several studies, but some of them have substantial methodologic limitations....

At any rate, you aren't going to take the series again but you are going away so just have a good time.  No sense worrying over something you have no control over.
