I found out this year that a favorite singer of mine had a liver transplant early this year. I thought he had a human organ, but my mom informed me that it was a pig's liver! this was done in Europe. He is now touring and seem well. If these organs can extend human life, why isn't this an alternative in the states? i don't know if I would accept an animal's organ if the alternative was death, but I don't have  to  make that decission, thank God. any ideas on why is not done here?

Alot of transplant centers are using hbv and hcv positive donor organs now. (esp in the past 2 years, more and more centers are using them)

location doesnt really matter tho, because if one center doesnt accept the organ, it gets offered to other centers (you might know what I'm talking about- the offer goes local, then region, then national) So they do get used.

(only used for people who already carry the virus, they''ll infect the new organ anyway)

since I've been on the tp list I've learned more about this than I ever cared to.
What really amazes me tho, is that there's millions with this virus... millions.... been told the reality, but still not signing the cards

what do you think that means

there does seem to be anincrease in recruting of hepc/b pt's to become donnors i dont belive they are transplanting them but are using the organs for research.
at the hosp. where i work at we have 2 in the icu that are hep/b and hepc/hiv that are donnors.

I was wondering where you were.  Nice to know that you are still hanging in there.  I know how difficult it is to join in posting when one feels like they are "down in the dumps".  Even though that is one reason that we should post...it is hard to find things to say.  I know many people were thinking about you....I know I was.  Hope things get better for you soon.  Good to see you again, Miss Cindee...(You always share your lightness with people to lift them, I hope we can do the same for you...thank you for being you!)  :>)
