liver pain

Was exposed 2 hep c and b through sexual intercourse about 4yrs ago.  Since then I have had ruq pain.  Since blood tests are negative for hepatitis b and c.  The doc says its probally my nerves or ibs.  My question is do any of u feel pain in the liver area and was it in the acute stage or during treatment. My gastro says u shouldn't feel pain in the liver. My pain is there everyday sometimes worse then others but always there and at night I avoid laying on my right side it seems to bother it. Does anyone else seem 2 have this problem or should I b in another forum?

I was told by a medical professional that we cannot fel pain in the liver itself. I asked, why then do I feel pain in my liver area?

As it turns out I think the pain in my case was from gall stones. I did this liver-gall bladder flush and got rid of a lot of stones. You wouldn't believe it! Anyway if I had it to do over I would do the flush again and I do it about once a year just to keep things clean and tidy in there.

So I just read about gall bladders and that pain and symptoms sounds very familiar. That will cause a pain to radiate up into the shoulder. I complain about shoulder  pain as well. Very interesting.

I also had right Quadrant pain. It wasn't the Hep C, it was my bile ducts. Livers do not feel pain, you can have referred pain. But I had an upper endoscopy where they but a stent into my bile duct so the bile could go down. This seemed to stop the pain. I would check this out with a GI.

I had right side pain and itching before being diagnosed.  The reason I went to the Dr was because I was a drinker and wondered if the right side pain was my liver telling me something.  Hep C never crossed my mind.  But I asked for ALL tests be run.  Low and behold I have Hep C.  They also said liver feels no pain.  They found gallstones.  Also said that if the liver is inflamed it pushes on other organs that do feel pain consequently feeling like liver pain in the area.  Thank God I did have some kind of symptoms so now I am in treatment, undetected at 12 weeks, looking forward to 24 week check next month.  Stay positive,  all is right with the world!!!!!!!  You can beat this thing!

I have pain in my right side and was told too that the liver does not feel. My last, stupid doctor, said I had indigestion and told me to take antacids. Well that did not help at all. And as far as the itching goes, I itch especially at night and it is so intense that I want to take coarse sand paper and scratch my legs. I realize the weather in CO is dry but this itch is like one that I can't explain. Not only does it itch but it also feels like bee's stinging me. I pour on the lotion at bedtime but no help. Also about the RUQ does anyone have spasam's in that area? Is that the liver doing that or what is that?

I have itching quite often. Mainly in the palms of my hands and arches of my feet.  Many times in the area of the liver and hips.  Is this comman with Chronic Hep C?

Many MANY experience pain in that area. It is a symptom. The liver itself is not what "hurts" it is the "casing" and inflamation that presses on other body parts in that area. But I doubt you have either if your tests were neg. Take them again to put your mind at ease. Good Luck, Mkeela

Bobby, congrats, again.
