I saw a documentory not to long ago about 5 patients in need of a kidney. All five had willing donor partners (spouses, siblings, friends) but none was able to match their loved one. I can't imagine how they organized this and I don't remember where, but all ten were tested and elauated and in at one surgical time they were "swapped" each of the donors giving to the corresponding person which they matched. It was a win-win for all. The operating rooms were all runing simultaneously and there were scores of o.r. personell. It would be a HUGE undertaking but I suppose it could be done. Hope I am explaining it ok.
thats interesting. My boyfriend and I have the same blood type, although the acticle meantioned it did not need to match identically. I know he would do anything to keep me here longer with him. I will forward the article to him and see what he says about it..
