I've never heard of "inactive" hepC before honestly.  You either have it or you don't.  Most of us in here were asymptomatic and only found out by accident.  You should be evaluated by a good hep doctor to find out where that stands.  I had no idea i had this disease and was already stage 3 when I did.

That being said - it is a slowly progressing disease for the most part.  Unfortunately, there really isn't anyway to know without proper testing.

I can't imagine that anyone would let you donate a kidney with hepC.  It is against the law.  As you either have it or you don't have it..........it's a pretty easy thing to figure out. Unless you donated a kidney immediately after catching hepc (within an extremely short time period) it really shouldn't be an issue or the person who was donated too most probably would get hepc too.
