low leval creatine level

im in a drug treatment program and i get drug tested regulary.they keep telling me that i have a low creatine level. a possable cause of it can be flushing your system but i havent. ive been clean for quite a while. it is mandated that i do this program and can go to prison if this keeps up.does anyone know of a reason why this is happening?or how to get your levels up.

You are in the wrong forum. This is the hepatitis C forum. Everyone here has been clean for at least 6 mos. or 1 year, if they were ever unclean.

i am in the same boat . i have been a recovering alcoholic for 19 months. i was diagnosed 6 yrs. ago with hep C  but was told it went away as it goes in 15% of cases. i have had a low creatine reading for 19 months now. i was wondering if hep c victims have low creatine as part of there disease symptoms. should i be concerned about it?

Usually a low creatinine level is a sign of healthy kidney function but there are exceptions. A greater muscle mass means a higher creatinine level and thus women generally have lower creatinine level than do men. So, if you are small in stature with not a lot of muscle mass a low creatinine level wouldn't be that unexpected - but, I don't know what you mean by "low creatinine level". There is one situation where there is low creatinine level and that is in advanced liver disease. This is not commonly seen with HCV to my knowledge but, if you know you have advanced liver disease you should follow up with a doctor. Also a very low protein diet can result in a low serum creatinine level and I really don't know much more than that - like how low a protein intake would need to be in order to result in a low level.
