low white blood count and neupogen

I started treatment in late October and have been on and off each week because of low absolute neutrophils. Now they have started Neupogen shots too. Does anyone have experience here? They don't seem to have a protocol yet for this and I feel like an experiment. Also, what can I take for side effects of Neupogen?
