Sounds like your doctor is watching things carefully. Try not to worry. My Neut. are .5 and WBC 1.2 and they (doctors) are not doing anything yet. I am willing but they watch it each week. I try not to spend a lot of time in public and wash my hands all the time. Amazed I feel ok. I will have blood draw again on Monday. I am only four weeks from the end of treatment so my guess is this is why they are just "watching". Also, remember that all doctors seem to treat the low counts differently.
I'm not a doctor, but I believe that the normal range for WBC is 4.3 THOU/uL - 10.0 THOU/uL and the normal range for Neutrophils is 1.80 - 7.00 THOU/uL. It's expected that someone treating with these drugs will have a drop in their WBC. Doctors often manage this with Neupogen (filgastrin), which is a medication that helps the body's ability to produce white blood cells. I believe it comes pre-dosed and needs to be refrigerated. It may cause some bone pain.

The low wbc are a good indicator that interferon tx is working.
As far as infections go, be sure and wash your hands.
he said wbc i dont know the difference i i m on interferon riboveron and victreles i started the victreles 4 weeks ago and since thin it has went down from 0.9 to below 0.5 before i started treetmint it was at 3.9 hopefully i dont ketch any infections thanks for the info also.
It sounds to me like your ANC, absolute neutrophil count, went down to 0.5, a level which many GI's and Hepa's use as the threshold for starting neupogen. The neupogen often brings up the ANC quickly, but the interferon knocks it back down. You will need to continue to monitor it and may need to continue through the end of trt. Good luck.
