lymph nodes/glands and Hep

Are swollen glands and lymph nodes often associated with Hep.

I have sore throat swollen glands, very itchy non stop and headaches. The itchiness ties in with Hep but do the gland swellings?

Hi, I have swollen glands continuously which is one of the many ways the immune system tries to contain infection, i.e. Hep C.  I also have a fever and fatigue.  That being said, HCV patients are 4 times more likely to contract lymphoma due to stress on immune system and one symptom of lymphoma is swollen glands.  You may want to see a doctor.

Good luck,

you are always more likely to develop lymphoma when your system is in high gear fighting infection....the interferon is coursing through...if you had lymphoma though, they;d treat you with interferon....so not to paanic hear. not everyone gets lymphoma from this tx...its rare.

what you do get is more of the cells that fight virus, lymphocytes, macrophages, nterleukin, interferon,,and manymore the body makes from through the lymphatic system which is as large as out red blood circulatoy system.

the thing is, sometimes the glands get tender what with all the virus they are fighting, and sometimes they get inflammed if too much puss, dead bad cells) don't get removed enough.

I'g recommend deep tissue massage where all the lymph glands are. use hot and colg compresses around your jaw lines and just jiggle each gland tenderly for a few minutes each day. this will bring new blood to the area and help clear out the toxins.

google lymphatic system, anatomical chart and you;ll see where they all are.
a goog heat pad works for the groin and under knee areas ect.
Hope that helps,,,,,keep them warm and rubed and if they are still rock hard and tender in a few days, and don't respond to treatment at all, then do get in to see the doc and dscover whats up,
they can actually shoot a gland with interferon which will help break down the puss damn.

yes six weeks is a long time, initial reactions are one thing, get in and get seen, and also how much fluid are you taking in....the system has to flush itself...

someheadaches are to be expected, again hydration plays a part as does blood sugar level which can change on tx and any vasodialators, vasoconstrictors, blood pressure meds you may be on...all effect head pressure. they gave me phergergen for nausea but it gave me the worst headaches...

eliminate caffiene if at all possible...wean off of this...it will reduce cranial pressure...
if you have a particularly bad gland they may run test on it, if it's all over, well, the interferon works through the lymphatic system, of which the lymph glands and spleen are a part...so these are areas that tend to object to the constant warfare of fighting an intruder (which is what tx creates.)

I think what I most gleaned from everyone here and elsewhere is that sides are to be expected...mine change almost daily...some come and go...some are more or less always around...
if this one is especially troubling you, just get in and get seen. It will if nothing else put your mind more at ease.
hope that helps.

are your sides from medication, or symptoms of Hep? I have not been tested yet for Hep, but have had neg HIV and EBV.

But I am worn out all the time, certainly got viral issues, rash, itch, headaches are driving me mad, Going to docs again next week

yes, itching/rash and fatique are common symptoms of hep/liver problems.
there are other diseses that can cause them however. Shingles for example (the chicken pox virus that never leaves the system and reemerges as shingles when an adult), but many other things as well can cause similar symptoms. the fatigue would be an indicator you are fighting some major infection/disease..

before you get too far along in the worry dept though, I'd rule in or out allergies, amazing what they can kick up/ Also, do you have only qwollen neck glands or everywhere?
gland swelling is common to many baterial/viral things, from simple yeast, to mononeucleosis.

I think the important thing to remeber in all this, is the question you are asking may or may not be posed right to begin with. for instance, the rash itching may be a separate condition from the glands.

Not always is this true, but I know with my last round of "symptoms" it ended up being 3 separate diseases not just one, even though one may have set them all off, there's no way of knowing that.

that's why there are doctors, and tests that need doing. the only way to get to the bottom is to test for whats most logical, and move out from there.
I would recommend you make a total hep screen one of your priorities with the docs, only because they overlook it far more often than they should, and if you start with whats common that may be life threatening....you are a lot furture down the road to sanity.

that would have been an impotant clue to have stated up front don't you think? Knowing that could have saved a lot of time.
