mac790 10-31 (EOT) viral titer

Hello Fellow Travellers, My EOT with Merck 5172-068 clinical trail meds was 10-31-14. I went to the hospital conducting the trial on 12-2, and the blood draw from 10-31 showed the viral load as still "TND". Which may not mean anything, because I took my last pill that day. So, now I get viral titers once a month for a few months, then every other month, then @ 6 months, then 1 year >EOT. Merck considers you to have a SVR if you are TND @ 6 months >EOT. Seems a bit premature IMHO. I will make no victory pronouncements until 10-31-15. Until then, I will keep posting as the results come in. Best of luck to all those I got to know, and all newbies just starting tx. Things are looking up in the world of HCV tx, I just wish the meds were available to all infected persons, at prices that are adjusted according to their ability to pay. I was lucky enough to land in a clinical trial of a VERY effective (apparently 97%+ SVR, regardless of cirrhosis) new gen med made by Merck. I would have remained untreated w/o the trial, I could not pay the money they are charging for S/O, Harvoni, etc...  At my highly advanced stage of cirrhosis, if this trial hadn't come along, who knows where I would be in 5 years? We will never know the answer to that with any certainty, but 5 more years with a viral load of over 585,000 does not paint a very pretty picture of what could have been. At least now, I have a fighting chance, assuming there is no relapse. All The Best , mac790

Hi Mac.   I also want to add my hopes that you attain the ever elusive Hep C free status.  The odds are in your favor, as I'm a somewhat experienced gambler.
My best to you

Congrats on the cintinued TND!

The waiting seems hard, but the time passes quickly.  I agree, I want to know that I am still UND for longer than 12 weeks.  24 seems comfortable to begin thinking SVR, but 1 year even better, fot claiming cure,   Pat
