What about if you take an extra 200 mg like I did today. I took 1200 mg instead of the 1000 mg i take every day. Should I take 200 mg less tomorrow. I have genotype 2. My dose is weight based.

do not worry. Riba has a halflife time of 12.5 days, that means that when it has got it's steady state bloodlevel after 4-8 weeks of therapy, there will be 50% of the bloodlevel 12 days *after* end of treatment. However, try to be compliant from now on. Do not add the missing dose the next day, an extra of 600 mg could harm the kidneys.

When I started Tx about three years ago I missed about five DAYS of Riba dosing because of a mix up with insurance. I became undetectable after 12 weeks but relapsed after 48 weeks. Maybe because it was the doctor's office's fault, but they KEEP telling me it didn't really matter, that as long as I didn''t miss and of the Peg shots I was OK. Now I hear people talk about missing ONE DOSE and it seems like it could be a big deal. Anyone else have any comments about this? By the way, I went through almost two years of monotherapy on half dose peg after that, after starting at full dose and cutting back after becoming undetectable once again

I missed a dose and my dr's office said not to make up the dose, also a lot here on the forum said they had missed a dose or more and were still successful with tx. Actually, I missed an evening dose, laid out my pills the next morning, went to work, then returned home in the late afternoon to find all my pills right where I left them! I was und at week 3, 4, and 12 so it didn't seem to hurt me.

thanks for your input. i already took 2 doses since i missed the one last night. i wonder if i should still try to make it up (that's 3- 200mg caps). or at this point does it even matter? i see i'm not the only one to do it. and i'll be extra anal to check the pill box obcessively. like i'm not enough!

Try not to miss a dose.  I have a couple of times and just continued where I am and add the dose to the end.  The Riba helps the Peg last all week.  In the old days everyone had to do the Peg daily.  Anyway don't worry but try and remember to take it.  Good luck.

We've had this discussion a number of times in the past. Most doctors seem to say just let it go, not make up the missed dose. Some members have adhered to that, and some have made up the missed dose. Those that have made up the missed dose, usually did so over the next day or so. For example, you could take an extra 200 (800 in your case) mg of riba the next three dosing periods. Personally, the couple of times I missed a riba dose, I always made it up.
