my 2 week labs looking for some clarification

Hi all haven't been around much but still read some of the posts. I recd my 2 week labs 2 weeks ago and am going today for more. I just did shot #7 of 48 Friday. I had read some info that had me worried about decompasating liver, i would like to post my 2 week labs and see what you all get from it. I know no dr's here just patients. Very well informed patients though. Oh and dr said that i have early cirrohisis based upon the scans nad ultrasounds.

these are just the ones out of range

glucose 133 on scale of 65-99 prior to tx normal
calcium 8.2 on scale of 8.5-10.4
Albumin 3.5 on scale of 3.7-5.1 prior to tx 3.3
bilirubin 1.4 on scale of 0.2-1.3 prior to tx 1.1
ast and alt 60 on scale of 2-.5 ast and 2-40 alt
wbc 3.1 on scale of 3.8 to 10.8 prior to tx4.7
mch 33.1 on scale of 27.0-33.0 prior to tx 33.2
platelets 56 on scale of 140-400 prior to tx 66
absolute neutrophils 1302 on scale of 1500-7800 prior to tx 2895

thanks for any help you can provide tried to post new but not accepting. I also am experiencing swelling of the ankles, legs and hands dr has me takin lasix for that.
hope you are all doing well congrats to those of you finishing up and hang on to those just begining.

I'm not sure if it would make a difference as far as gastric concerns (e.g. - ulcers) go, but you may want to point out to your doc that the dosage of Vioxx used in the study (12.5 mg/day) is considered only 1/4 - 1/2 the usual dosing amount.

thanks rev and trihepguy,
I brought him the study and he said we would give it a try if need be but was worried because the vioxx per him ccauses ulcers.

I did find that neumega is given to cancer paitents to bring up platelets but the sides are suppose to be terrible. at this point who cares just want them brought up and not get pulled from tx.

You guys are great and I appreciate your help. I also heard this am that folic acid and b complex may help but that it takes a week or so to work so off to the drugstore i go.

I will fight to stay on tx but omly to a certain point. I read a study that said that until platelets get to 10k the risk for bleeding was not to bad. thought that was great but at the bottom it said except for ppl with liver damage. waaaaahhhhh

A girl's got to get a break soon here you know.

I hope that you all are doing well.
how many weeks left?

hope to see you both here soon also
Be Well

If I remember correctly (tough thing for me to do these days) - didn't you get clearance from your cardiac doc to try the Vioxx to help with the platelets? You may want to strongly suggest to your Hep C doc about trying Vioxx sooner rather than later - which would leave you having to play even more catch-up.

No room up top, so had to post here.. I was just using your comment as an example, not calling you out or anything.. I hold no bad feelings toward you, and was not hurt by that remark..Cause of course it was true, and I've been called worse.. You can call me pompass @ss all you want, just not a racist, ok..I will just take Cuteus's advice, and leave the extremist's mode of transportation out of my posts..Have a good night, Snook

Hi Dottie,,Glad to see you posting~  Did you have a biopsy before starting your tx?  I can't remember if you already have posted that before.  Your numbers on bloodwork really didn't look to much out of range but your platelets seemed low.  Did you have the swelling of ankles before starting tx?  Looked like you are hanging in there well with WBC as that is one of the first things usually to drop after starting tx.  Awwww,,,So the dr is vacationing and you need answers...Figures haha   I know this all can be so frustrating when our minds wander as to what all the highs and lows mean on our blood...Hope you get answers soon for relief!!

lela & OHC,

I guess I was not specific enough, I was told recently that the decrease in albumin and the increase in biliruben along with the cirrohisis and swelling, could possibly mean a decompensating liver.
Mike it seems that you have the latest on livers with tp and all. have you ever heard this before. I have read the janis site regarding labs and each item has its explination i was wondering if the combination of these things could mean something more. I called the doc but hes vacationing imagine that lol

well thanks ya'll

The labs you should concern yourself with are white counts.  If they drop too low, you should ask your doctor about lowering the dose of the shot for a while to let your body recover.  I have been on hald a dose for 12 weeks because my white counts were below normal from beginning and I have cleared the virus in 12 weeks.  It is normal for white counts to drop during treatment, just keep an eye on them.. You will be a survivor.  This treatment is designed for us all to win!
