nausea??

My first shot went alright, as I only got mild fever, would take tylenol and it ges right away..Now, I have nausea..Besides the complete spaced out feeling..Does anyone drink supplement shakes like met-rx, or myloplex?? Any tips on nausea?? In your personal accounts, the first week is supposed to be the worst right?? I know that I have to worry about fatigue later, but as for fevers and nausea, they will get better right??
I have already noticed that skin is dry, my hair is usually very oily, but now is dry, also need to use chapstick daily.. Any tips for nausea, greatly appreciated!!! I am a food person, and must eat!! My wife wanted to put lock on fridge first cuople days, as I was eating down the house..
Also, has anyone had pain in left abdominal?? It is like a cramp or something!! I know, being home this week, I am just sitting here waiting for anything to happen, so I can blame it on the tx..Alot of this is just mental I think?? Though things look a little different..
As for sun, I too had questions as to sun exposure.. I live in Miami, FL.. Spend most free time on boat fishing.. As far as the sun, are we talking all day exposure?? Is it alright to put lotion SPF on, and minimize exposure and still be able to function outside?? I have a 3 acre tropical yard, and do alot of yard work.. Do I have to run for the shade?? Too many questions, huh??
Hope all are doing well, and best wishes to all!!!!!

My doctor missed my symptoms for the past 3 years. said it was repetitive motion.  Finally after 3 years frustration and pressure from me he finally ran tests. Just was diagnosed with HVC Friday. I already have red stools rapid heartbeat, yellow eyes, fatigue, dark urine, pain and itching on the ribs, bruising, ankles swollen, nausea, and am always cold. Don't know my geno type yet, I'm 55, scared, and wan to know, am I going to die?

Thanks again, trippy feeling isn't too bad..It is the speedy uncomfortable feeling that is worse.. Also, the nausea is my real battle.. Even drinking water tastes funny.. I contacted my Doc, and he told me he would give me a Rx to get rid of it..I haven't had any hallucinations, just the paranoid feeling.. Whoaa, your seeing things?? And I also seem to be complete opposite.. I am bad in morning and day, but get better at night.. Just another day, another battle..Thanks..

All I can offer you is what I've been told - which was that if I was going to move the day ... to do it in half-day increments. Whether being so conservative is truly valid or not - I do not know.

One thought is to call Roche (1-877-734-2797) or Schering (1-888-437-2608) and get their take on it. Though, I'm not sure how late at night they would be staffed.

Hopefully, someone here will have much more knowledge on the subject. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Snook,,,,I hear ya! lol  Thats exactly how it was for me also in beginning,,It does get somewhat better then total space cadet but,,,,you will be hit with different sides coming up..You just joined the ride of your life and there is no going back LOL Hang tight!  Yeah everytime I think about Rev and all those weeks,,,He definitely deserves a medal!

Chevy,,,I'm really not sure on moving the shot and sure someone will help you out but,,,,I want to forewarn you what happened to me and then you can decide.  Beginning tx day of Sunday,,,Monday and Tuesday were the BIG **** days...Just could breathe only those days and not good for too much energy wise,,,Well ya know..
Ok,,,about week 12,,,All the sudden my shot day was the BEST day and 2 days after...I was pumped and running and doing all my stuff and then end of week back down day before shot.  As of week 18,,,last week, It changed up on me again! Now I'm back to sunday night shot and sick monday and tuesday sooooooo,,,I'm personally not to sure about changing up shot.  You could be different and maybe someone else will talk about this also!

Thanks, for the advice.. It is calming just to know that I am not alone.. Wife and family do not understand.. I tried to explain it to my wife yesterday, as she kept asking me why I was so quiet, and just staring.. I told her that it almost felt like tripping LSD.. Paraniod sort of uncomfortable feeling.. The staring, I told her that it was like sitting at an intersection waiting for traffic to give so I can get going..I was just stuck.. I realize that this is only temporary, but just seems like such a long time.. But damn, if revenire can do 70 or 80 weeks on this stuff, I gotta suck it up!!!
Again, thank you for your encouragement, as others DO NOT understand.. Nausea is just an awful thing, but the alternative would be worse, right??

Scott,

I am feeling great, but I don't start my next round of tx till June 25th. I will keep you informed.
WOW 74 shots! When you get done take a long vacation and work all that interferon and Riba out of your system, I don't want you to become one of those interferon junkys.

May God Bless you and make your recovery complete,

You'll be happy to know that we've all chipped in - and just lined you up a 20 week stay at the newly opened 'Pamela Anderson Clinic for Interferon Rehab' - in southern Arizona.

The thought of you going cold turkey in nine weeks brings us to tears. We know you'll be in capable hands there. But be warned - they will do a full body search on you - just to be sure you haven't hidden any viles.

I found the best thing for nausea or just general upset stomach is Ginger. I take Ginger caps or eat the dried root covered with suger cane juice.
You can find all of the differant types of Ginger in most health food stores, GNC, ect. In many studys they found Ginger worked better then Dramamine for nausea and motion sickness.
I have already stocked up for my upcomming TX.

<B>Hay Scott hows it going?</B>

So your the comedian in the group huh?? I like your comment you posted below, for me, Strap in and enjoy the ride!! I am strapped in, getting up is another question!! LOL.. I have been through some rough stuff, as I had a nose surgery, that i spent 3 days no food or water, with a balloon in my nose inflated beyond RESONABLE!!! Then had to have embalism to stop bleeding, and 3 days in ICU.. Anticoalgulants that they gave me tasted like a rusty steel pipe!! Of course, this is different situation.. I have already noticed that sx come and go, I feel them one minute, and couple minutes later feel alright!! I feel alittle lighter though, confirming that first week is roughest..I guess it is because you are just waiting for anything to happen, to blame this tx..
I got to loosen the straps for a minute, atleast act like a productive member of society!! Thanks, and look forward to more truthful, to the point answers!!! Thanks

hey snook, well congrats on getting underway w tx.....as for the nausea, i agree with honey....ginger root, ginger snaps....they hide them in my grocery store though....also, i did have extreme nausea for the most part of tx, sometimes even moving would bring it on...it was nessisary for me in my case, (i did vomit at least once a week) to be given other anti-nausea meds...gravol was awful as it made me too sleepy....
as for the 'DRYNESS' you will hear often about staying HYDRATED....this is important, and will help some. but dryness is a fact of tx for everyone i know.

as for FOOD...wow.....on shot night i would be able to eat 3 huge meals in the span of 6 hours or so..and i am pretty tiny..i couldn't get ENOUGH FOOD it seemed....(RED MEAT!!!!)..which was good cause i didn't eat much the rest of the wk....so listen to your body and eat when you are hungry.....SUN....hummm....well given that you live in such a warm climate, i would not give up being outside if you don't have to.....just use really good sun block...UV35 and wear a hat and you should be okay....keep hydrated though.....

my severe reaction to the sun was off the charts....i had only sun tanned....45 min on the front, 45 min on the back, in the pool on a floaty thing.so we are each different in our reaction, better safe than sorry, just use proctection and all should be well. (i didn't !! )oh CHEVY thanks for that...the little red marks now look like a bunch of mosqitoe or black fly bites...yuk...but they will eventually go too i imagine, they better!!!!  we only a few months here to 'show' any skin...hahaha

MRI.....well forgot to mention, there was a message from my doctor on friday saying.....that the MRI was COMPLETELY NORMAL!!!  yahoo....but still the discomfort is there..so who knows....

cheers

Yes, the first 2 wks were by far the worst for me.  I did have nausea for about 6-8 wks off and on but I think my constant headache contributed to that.  Once I started drinking some ginger ale that seemed to help; along with getting rid of the headache.  Just didn't feel like eating much when I felt nauseaus.  Did 32/48 last Friday and seldom fell nauseated but do still get headaches from time to time.  It does get better so just hang in there.

Good luck with your tx and with a little luck, you could be one that has very few if any real sx.

Hey...Nausea is a common side and I am week 19 and still get on occassions..Kinda like queasy feeling but never have gotten sick. Alot here,,,say to use ginger and that helps.  I bought ginger cookies and that does seem to settle at times.  Honestly,,,my  first week was the worse,,,Kinda like someone shot me with poison LOL and at the same time...Pulled the plug on my body. So it was an initial shock for my system.  I'm sure in your case,,,It will level out also as your body is in shock at moment being introduced INTERFERON!!  As far as sun,,,The skin dries so badly,,,I would keep lots of protective lotion and take a couple of hours at a time to see how your skin is going to react.  Some say,,,it doesn't bother them and others have some kind of reaction so be careful on that part.  That spacey feeling was very exaceggerated for me first couple of months and then it also leveled out some.  Just go with the flow and get plenty of fluid and rest, rest, and rest,,,It does help! Good Luck!
