new drugs for chirrotic liver

I understand that these new drugs are helping people with Hep C but can anyone tell me if they help people that have a cirrhotic liver from alcohol. Thanx and Good Health to all. Kelly

I look at it as two separate things.
HCV:  I am on Sovaldi / Riba to kill the HCV.
LIVER: I have ESLD Stage 4 with decomped liver.  I am on a transplant list.  The Sovaldi / Riba or whatever combo they put me on is not going to help my liver but hopefully it will kill the HCV so that when I get a new liver I won't still have to deal with HCV.

If you are still drinking you should stop immediately and find out what your viral load level is and what stage your cirrhosis is at.  With cirrhosis you can be compensated or decompensate.  Two different ballgames.

Read hrsepwrguy post above ....check out some of the other posts.  When I first started on here I read all the posts even the ones I wasn't interested in because someone would sometimes post information on those posts two.

There are many excellent recourse's on this website through the posters.
