Yes type3.I have a liver specialist at Dallas Methodist Hospital. He is looking in to studies in other countries where type3 is more common. He will let me know what he found out during my next appointment.
There are quite a few folks here on the forum who have participated in clinical trials with the newly approved drugs. You may find better cross references by looking for telaprevir (now called Incivek) and boceprevir (now called Victrelis).
Your genotype is important as noted by the others. Most of the clinical trials with these 2 drugs were conducted with geno 1.
Best wishes!
I have been told the same by the medical community and Ginnie says: only approved for genotype 1.
You indicated your first treatment was for 24 wks? If that means you are a genotype 2 or 3 please know that the new drugs have only been approved for genotype 1. To date, insurance companies are only approving for genotype 1 and studies have shown Incivek and Victrelis to be ineffective on genotype 3.
Hello, glad to hear you are getting the new treatment.Which drugs are you going to take? I hope to get started around the same time.
I don't blame you for waiting.I have done the other standard treatments twice.Once for 24 weeks and then a few years later 48 weeks.I still have the virus.I sure hope the new meds work better for all people.I go to the doc in a couple weeks and hope to start another round of treatment soon after that.Keep us posted with your progress. GOOD LUCK'
Yes, this is my first go around hopefully the last! I have been putting off treatment waiting for the better drug and shorter time. It is still very difficult. if Im not forcing myself to go to work, I am horizontal.
