These are questions for the doctor. Just don't panic. End stage is 4. Have you had a MELD test?
I haven't been able to get you off of my mind. I am concerned for you. I know what it's like as you describe symptoms from liver disease. Do you have anyone who can speak for you? You need better care.
recently i was diagnosed with end stage liver failure due to hepc. Is this what they call stage 4? What do they mean by reactive hepc? I will be seeing a hepitologist in March/15 and would like to prepare for the worst case scenario.
More info would be needed before I would suggest you have cirrhosis. Being cirrhotic myself I would agree that some of your symptoms might not be related at all to Hep C. Some very well could be. I am sure they done a CBC on you? I would be interested in knowing some of those numbers also. There are several ways to get all the meds for free. If your close to a teaching hospital there are even trials.
You need answers and the best way is to get into a doctor who understands Hep C and treating it.
No need to feel it's the "end". For most people treating now there odds are on their side... Good luck to you and welcome here.
So sorry about your situation. I see you live in Mobile, AL. Do you have decent health insurance? Alabama is ranked pretty low for low income or public heath assistance medical care. Have you tried to reachout locally for help? Do you have a relative or friend who can help?
If this is your situation and a member who lives in your area sees this. They may be able to advise you of a non profit agency in Mobile who may be able to help you to try and get the best possible treatment available for your situation.
Best wishes.
Hi and sorry for what you are going thru.
Have you had any bloodwork done that you can share?
Are you certain that you have Hep C? If so, did they tell you what type?
This would look like 1a, 1b, 2a and so on. It may also appear as a # such
as 3 million or 500,000.
That would help us to help you.
Some of your symptoms may not be related to Hep C.
Hopefully we can help you get to the bottom of it.

You sound like it has progressed to the point of cirrhosis, varices and portal hypertension along with severe anemia. Has anyone done labs on you? Is your urine the color of dark tea and stools black? Are you nauseous with very little appetite? Do you have confusion? Do you have a Gastro or a hepatologist? If not you need one. You need labs and a MELD test. You need and ultrasound and an endoscopy referral too. The clinic is just your regular primary care physician? If so ask them to refer you out to a Hepa or gastro doc. Your ammonia levels sound high and if you get any sicker you need to go to the ER. Be your own advocate. The clinic doesn't know beans about HCV. They are just a referral system and only treat colds, flu and minor issues. Get on the phone and get that referral to a specialist. What city/area? Maybe someone here can recommend a specialist that your PCP can refer you out to.
Be quick. Time is of the essence.
