Hi.  I don't want to be negative here, however, I would seriously suggest you speak with your Dr. about the gall stone issue prior to starting tx.  I have a family history of gall bladder disease.  I had a gb attack and did the diagnostic testing.  I have small moving stones and hida scan showed moderate gb dysfunction.  As I have only small stones, I chose to follow med. protocols suggested by both mremeet and tulsatime - take my chances and begin tx.  If you have larger stones which COULD block a duct, you may require emergency surgery, like my father and brother did.  I don't think it prudent for surgery after starting tx.  Please, speak with your Dr., have diagnostics, and make an informed choice.

Hi, my sister has hepc and had gallstones. She always said her back would hurt when her liver was swollen. She had to have her gallbladder removed. I have cirrhosis and don't have that pain. I have a pain in my shoulder-blade. Go figure..
Take care...  Debi

I've got gallstones and that's how it feels sometimes. Although I haven't had that pain in a long time. One thing that exacerbates the pain is eating greasy foods, especially right before going to bed. Consuming fats stimulates the emission of bile from your gallbladder, which then causes it to contract and "squeeze" on the gallstones trapped within it. This is what causes the pain. Also, the stones may cause a partial obstruction to the flow of bile too, although usually when this happens there's excruciating pain (like when a stone blocks the cystic duct). I've found avoiding excess fat, standing up, walking around and exercising seems to help the most. I was diagnosed 7 years ago and still have my gallbladder, good luck.

How weird, I had the exact same problem with my back last night--and came on to the forum to see if anyone else posted about same.
My pain was in the "upper left quadrant" just under my shoulder blade.(googled it and it said gastritis or pancreitis or IBS) It was so painfull all I could do was lay on a heating pad. It hurt to move my arms also. It came on so suddedly (after nap) that I KNEW it wasn't my back (spine)-also because of the location. And I didn't DO anything to hurt it..

I took 8000mg of motrin and it didn't touch the pain so then I took a pain pill(loritab) and nothing. Finally went to bed with heating pad and woke up shivering with chills and flu symptoms so took more ibuprofen and went back to bed and woke up a few hours later and pain was totally GONE.

Anyway if you think it is your gallbladder here is a link to do a natural cleanse.
