pcr viral load 8wks after starting tx

Hi All, my gastro left me a msg saying my 8 week viral load still detected the hcv virus, my question is I'm genotype 2b and gonna do tx for 24 weeks I'm 8 week in so how long before I start reading out some undetectables?? I'm getting pretty bummed out cuz I've been feeling pretty crappy since starting tx and have been taking my injections but did miss some rib pills for a few days cuz of insurance problems with getting refills.

I have a few concerns here.  We need more information as FL guy said.  Did you get a 4 week test?  Are you taking weight based ribavirin or the standard for genotype 2 of 800mg per day?  

FL - when did you clear?  blakcat - FL is a geno 2 (or 3) did 24 weeks and relapsed and is just now retreating for 48 weeks -- so listen to what he has to say!

What was your viral load when you started, and at 8 weeks? If it's significantly lower you are making progress to be und at 12 (is 12 your next viral load?).  But, the earlier undetected the better. If you take 4 riba a day, how many do you think you missed in your 8 or 9 weeks?  Staying with the med schedule now? It's important.

It is very important not to miss any of the pills so early in the course of treatment - being complient is crucial to success.

Buy a pillbox for AM and PM to help you keep it straight.

The earlier you are UND the better your chances for success. I was not und until between 12 and 24 somewhere (I had 400 that I just could NOT get down from) and so I am treating for an ADDITIONALL 6 months. I am a geno 1 though.

my viral load before starting tx was 485,000 IU/ml but I don't have the numbers yet for my 8 week pcr. I'm taking 6 riba pills a day but have missed several days worth. I will be having another pcr at 12 weeks and will be seeing my gastro in 11/06 and will ask him to give me actual number regarding my viral load. thank you all for replying.
