I began the pegasus treatment for hep c yesterday and got some side affects but they were tolerable does it get worse with more weeks into treatment or is it a good thing that my side fx were moderate?

I agree with all of the above. The sides vary from person to person and they wax and wane even for each individual. The main thing is to stay on top of the side effects, at least the ones you can do something about (if you get them) (such as nausea, diarrhea, flaming butt if you are on Incivek, rash). They have a tendency to creep up on a person and they will snowball if not treated. If over the counter remedies do not work, don't be afraid to ask your doc for a prescription to counteract the side effects.

If you are on Incivek, get on top of the bowel movements. Keep them firm, not like a rock, but quite firm. It is the soft, loose, and/or runny stools that really give a person a problem.

Best of luck treating.

I don think you should take ambien while taking incivek. Zolpidem is the generic equivalent. I took it for years and my dr made me stop while on inc. I dont know about all the PI's, but I would check into this with your Dr. before taking any while on Inc.

Welcome.
The side effects have changed, and changed, and then changed again for me.
I don't think anyone can predict from one week to another how they'll feel, or at least I can't!

Hopefully you'll have no problems and the time will pass before you know it.

For me the first few weeks were a fairly easy.  After the meds began to accumulate around week 3-4, then the sx began to kick in and thing were more challenging.  It's very difficult to predict, so just do your best day after day to address issues that pop up.  Plenty of good help here to help guide you through trt.  Good luck to you.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum! It is hard to say if your sides will get worse or better; we are all so different in how we respond (but there is always someone on here that has what you do). Some have an easy time all the way through and some start easy and then things get tough. I wish you the best and a continued gentle journey. Keep us informed and hang in there! You can beat this thing,

Oh pardon me for not reading correctly home sick and sort of out of it today!

For some the first shot or two is the worst. For others like me I had no hit reaction except I made myself crazy with fear and didn't get sides until later ( mostly my fault I did what I wanted and not what the doctor prescribed).

Sorry tried to type shot reaction, not good on an iPad.

As 1said, take two Tylenol with the shot. I took mine at 6 pm then about nine took an Ambien so when it kicked in for me (at least mentally) I could sleep though it. Then I made Saturday my day of rest. Laid in bed with my clicker and cookies and took the day off. It was like my special treat.

Physically did it help, probably not but mentally it was good.

Suzy

I treated years ago and have been around a while. Some people have it easier after the first few shots - I don't know what week you are on or if you are on triple or just peg and RIBA?

Treatments tough for most at best. But remember you are killing virus and that is a big job!  Don't get discouraged!

Are you drinking half your body weight in water every day? Ie if you weigh 120 you drink 60 ounces of water...it helps a lot.

Let us know some more details, we will help you as much as we can.

what genotype are you?  Are you doing dual or triple treatment?  Have you had biopsy and what stage is your liver at?

I know some on here, including myself, take their shot at night so they can sleep through most of the initial side effects.  I usually take 1 tylonol about 30 min prior to my shot, take my shot and I am in bed within 1-2 hrs after the shot.  If I feel I need it it, I take another tylonol when i wake up, but only if I feel I may need it.
