pegasys and copegus

has anyone treated with Pegasys and Copegus instead of Sovaldi and Ribavarin, and if so are the results the same? Is this medication generic or an older medication to treat hep c 3a

If you wonder what it's like to feel entirely exhausted and depressed~ take interferon. One of the possible side effects listed by the manufacturer is suicidal thoughts. I survived two rounds and am happy to be free of Hep C but don't now, there are better alternatives.

yeah  you don't want those meds at all. They are last generation. I doubt any doctor would even suggest those they are not recommended as treatment for anyone per the AASLD treatment guidelines.

If a doctor would even suggest those meds they must be WAY behind the curve of treatment info. If you doctor or anyons doctor in the US suggested this treatment I would run from his office and not look back

Gotta go with you on that one FM.
Gives me an uneasy feeling as well when those old school meds come up in conversations.  Brings back some not so happy memories.
Take care

Stay far away from INF and ribavirin.   Let others guinea pig the new drugs.  Live healthy for a few more years and watch.

I was treated in 2004 with Pegintron and Ribaviran, I was 44 yrs old, in decent health and I agree, I wish I would have waited as the side effects were devestating. I am been on total and permanent disability since then, and yes it's due to lasting and devestating effects of these drugs. My immune system is comprised beyond repair, I developed severe osteoporosis, perephial neuropathy, and more. Please, eat healthy, no drugs or alcohol, exercise and live right but stay away from these drugs!

Thank God. I took the first dose and woke up 5 hours later with a raging fever and shaking uncontrollably. I ran a low-grade fever the whole time. I got shingles, I had pneumonia with pleurisy, then I had thrush to the point I could not swallow or eat along with full-brown flu-like symptoms for 5 months. My white count bottomed out, my platelets bottomed out. They finally said this stuff is killing you. It destroyed my eyesight and left me with neuropathy in my legs. That is some nasty stuff. Thank God you are not taking it.

Lord have mercy, I freak out just hearing those words. That treatment almost killed me, literally. It did not even move my numbers at all. If your doc suggested that, please get another opinion. The side effects are brutal and longlasting. I'm begging you.

Are you in the US?

I haven't heard recently of anyone being treated with those meds. How was that even suggested and by who?

You really don't want the Peg & CoPeg.  INF is/was a nasty med.  There are people on the Post Tx Forum who are 5 + years past tx and are still battling awful sides?

That is interferon and Ribavirin.  It's an older treatment.
