Ah, I have a new side effect. Today is the day of my 8th shot but I had terrible body aches today and felt like I had a fever. After work I took a motrin about 5:30 and an hour or so later took my temp because I had chills and then got really warm. It is only about 75 degrees here. My temp was 100 and normally I am 98 degrees even. No idea why. I have had flu symptoms with the tx before but never a fever. I do have a sore throat and feel like I am having a sinus attack too. It is weird with this stuff because it is hard to tell when you are having a side effect or if you really have the flu. If any of you in tx got a fever as a side effect, how high did it go? I had severe chills about two weeks ago but no fever.

I was also curious about something else.  For those who arein  or have been in studies/trials; how tight do they stick to blood test dates? For example, my week 4 test was on a Wednesday the night before the week 5 shot. Does that mean I should do the week 12 blood test on the Wednesday before shot 13 to get accurate results? Does it matter if I do the blood test on the Monday before shot 13 (two days sooner)? What do they do in the trials? As always your input is greatly appreciated!

I've ran a low grade fever almost nonstop for 4 weeks. Chills get bad at times. I use children's Motrin, 1 tsp. It helps. I wondered the same thing cuz I have a lil sinus drainage, but I think it's the meds. Dr. agreed.
Lab dates? I have to schedule mine around school days now. I have every 2 weeks stuff done at a local lab. Then I travel to hospital every 4 weeks. So - my first viral load was taken the day before my 5th shot. The second will be taken 3 days before my 10th shot. They didn't seem concerned as long as I get my cbc differential every 2 weeks no matter what. I just reread urs. I'm not on a trial... sry.. Bedtime for Bonzo. Karen zzz

Wow it sounds tough. I wish I could be of some support but I havent stated my treatments yet but will be starting the Pegysas and unsure whatwill be. I guess thats what Ill be finding out tomorrow. I hope to keep in touch with you and maybe since it looks like we will be taking the same meds we could help each other if you would like. Im sure Im gonna need a friend or to help me through this. I am on week 4, when I get the flu symptoms I don't get a fever just feels like I have it, and the sinus thing my ears are constantly clogged, feels like I have sinus infection. Thought that was just me or allergies. I think you should do the blood test after shot 4 and 12 because those are critical times to see if the incevik is doing it's job. Good luck. Joe

Regarding the trial/study blood draws - each trial has a protocol and your study team should be telling you when to come in for your draws.  After I first got started, I switched mine from Friday to Monday - my study nurse had to clear it with the trial administrators but I have stuck to it since.  Right now I am finishing up week 20 of the pills and I will take shot #21 tomorrow,  I will have my week 20 lab work on Monday.  Hope that helps.

I asked the question wrong. I wanted to know about anyone in tx with a fever. Also good to know about the blood tests. My doc said the same thing today so thanks for letting me know. Congratulations on the good news!

Thanks for the input. I have had flu symptoms before too but they are worse now and the fever is new this past week. It is stubborn too with some serious chills.

I just want to try and do everything right with knowing if I still have it or not and don't want to throw the test results off. False positive or negative would not be good.

Fever is a side effect of the interferon.  As long you do not have a respiratory infection or some other kind of obvious infection the fever can be controlled with Tylenol.  Some weeks you may experience no fever at all and other weeks low to mid grade throughout the entire week.
The only thing for certain with treatment is that you certainly don't know when the side effects will strike.
Neutropenia can cause fever so make sure your doctor is keeping an eye on your ANC.

Thank you. I had never heard of neutropenia before. Unfortunately I cannot take Tylenol hence the motrin. I'm sure my doctor is doing that but it is important for me to know too so that I am aware.

chills and fever> CHECK lol I have a theory...if it doesn't make you feel like sh--, it aint workin' :) Not only do I get occasional fever and chills but I am pre menopausal with hot flashes so count your blessings. I don't know if I am coming or going LOL As for the labs> they have them scheduled right. The blood should be checked after week 4...they are giving you the full week 4 to get the results right before week 5. Sound like a winner. Good luck. I am scared to death about my 4 week labs...I have to come down from 14,900,000 viral load to under 1000 and everyone around me wants to get on my nerves during this important time hahaha!!!!
