pneumonia and flu vaccinations

Voted early today and ran into an old neighbor who is a retired GI doc.
We didn't have a detailed conversation about HCV but he was stunned when I told him my GI doesn't vaccinate HCV patients for pneumonia unless they are cirrhotic.

I have only had the Hep A & B vaccinations
I never get flu shots and wonder if I should consider this.
I am not even sure I would know or feel any different if I did get the flu.

Any experience with this?

I just recently asked my doc about getting the flu vaccine and normally he tells people to get it before they start tx, but that I could go to my GP and get it.  I'm 15 weeks into tx now.  I know they say that there are no sx to the flu shot, but for two days I had the worst flu-like symptoms since starting tx.  I was questioning myself whether it was the tx or somehow the fu shot made things worse.  lol  I couldn't tell.
