However, I could hardly breathe (it felt like polyps) and I did use it VERY gently as I believed the pressure in my passages was causing the bleeding; it did relieve my nasal passages and the bleeding stopped (until a few weeks later when I would have to do the whole thing again). It was intermittant and nasal sprays seemed to increase the irritation. I also used a 'nasal gel' that had olive leaf and vitamin E which helped in the evening. Steam also helped and I would put my head over a steam bowl, or notice the improvement immediately after a shower.
This is only pertinant to you if the cause is from your nasal passages. My platelets were sitting at about 107.
I also had the riba cough and concentrated on trying to keep hydrated to help move the phlegm - any exercise really helped me cough up the phlegm, as did laughing!!! I would watch any funny TV program I could, and would actually force myself to laugh during the day (often in the car :-) which would clear my chest (which would get a little tight when the phlegm built up and was my cue to clear it somehow). My nurse said the riba could cause a 'producing cough' as long as I kept an eye on it to make sure the sputum was clear.
Using a non-alcoholic mouth wash (and gargling) helped keep the back of my throat infection free.
It's certainly alarming when we see blood; I hope you can get to the bottom of it and find some relief...
I would listen to the trial personnel and seek advice from a specialist doctor. While you are waiting for the appointment you could try the suggestions above to see if they help
If it doesn't then you will have ruled out a few possibilities, if it does then there is nothing lost.
Btw, if it gets worse I really think you should consider going to A&E.
All the best
