protease inhibitors

by DAM, Jun 16, 2003 12:00AM
A question for the forum:  Has anybody done extensive research on protease inhibitors to treat hepcv?  I have been scratching around, but a lot of the articles are very much in technical terms.  How far along are they and when do trials actually begin?  I am a 1a 2 time non-responder getting ready to start pegysis.  TIA!

Just talked to my np about this very thing today

I told her that I was told there is a 12% success rate on n.r.s,

she said she is being told it is 30%.

either way,  not high enough for me.

I plan on waiting on the polymerase inhibitors
http://www.www.****.***
which in one study (cited above ) showed an 85% success rate in n.r.s (corhort 2, its hard to find).

my np  said "I've never heard of it!"

uh oh.

I am in follow up for a polymerase inhibitor trial.  I have written about it in my journal if you would like more info.  So far, so good as I am week 20, still UND :)

If you go to this site there's a graph that shows the various new drugs currently in trials.  You have to register, but it's worth it.  You could also just google hcv drugs and I'm sure you'll get some hits.  You may have to do that anyways b/c my link may get zapped, as it's a Schering link.  later
