psoriasis/skin disorders?

by willing, Jun 17, 2003 12:00AM
finding this forum has been a great help. I'm  at week 19/48 of pegasys+ribavarin - the strength and humor people are bringing to coping with the lovely side effects of tx has helped me dry up on the self pity.
My question was about a side effect that apparently isn't as widespread as some others. I've had a little psoriasis for years  but it was stable, contained and never an issue.
Now it is aggressively spreading all over my body and is accompanied by dry/scaly skin which easily splits making handling anything or walking a pain.
The itching, especially by evening, is really a challenge. A dermatologist prescribed some creams (cortisone based I think) which helped the itching slighly but made the dryness worse.
The only relief I've found is taking benadryl at night which seems to just shut down all the itching response but makes me that much more comatose in the morning.

Anyone else experience similar issues and/or find anything that helps?

Spreading psoriasis is mentioned by Roche as a possible indicator of complications with pegasys but I haven't found much information beyond that.
Thanks..
