purchasing life ins after diagnosis?

Has any one here been able to purchase life insurance after they were diagnosed with Hep C? We have made a few attempts but have been turned down by the companies we tried. I was hoping someone knew of a company that would insure us. Thanks. Su

wow, isn't that discrimination??  I suppose I should look into that as well...I have life insurance now for about a hundred grand, but once my husband retires it goes down to thirty grand...I probably should seeek out a new policy now, since I am still in a policy...

I've had no success in being accepted for life insurance.  I tried to up my coverage on my original plan that I'd kept from my last employer.  It's only for $18,000.  Anyhow, I wanted to increase it and they turned me down.  Every other plan I looked into, same story.  I was told by one of them that I'd have to be free and clear of the virus for 1 year and have normal LFT's for that whole time as well.   So, I've just about given up.  I can't afford to have to try to pay some extragavent amount just to get coverage.

I've paid into a $500K term life policy with Allstate for over fifteen years.  After dx I called my agent to up the amount and/or convert the term policy to whole life.

I was told that neither could be done.  However he said that another Allstate customer with HCV cleared the virus and after five years they can upgrade their policy and/or take out a new one.

I'm just glad that I have the original policy for my family.
