I hope and pray you get better soon. When I had my Incivek rash my NP told me she was watching my face to see if it swelled up. She said if it did, she would have to stop my treatment. So it sounds like you're doing the right thing and are in the right place.

I am sorry that you had to stop Tx and also that you had to be hospitalized. I am sure the hospital is the best place for you so that can, as you stated, keep a better eye on you and the rash. Hopefully they are aggressively treating the rash and any sequelae. Some others have had the severe rash with facial swelling and it did take some time before the rash and swelling cleared up with oral and/or intramuscular steroids and steroid ointments/creams (all prescription strength).

No, I don't think that is what happened. It is my opinion that you had a drug reaction to the Incivek such as is described in the literature. As you know, Incivek carries a warning about severe rashes. A certain percentage of individuals do have the severe Incivek rash. And, it is a drug reaction, not a reaction to clearing the virus nor is it caused by Incivek killing the virus. Actually, Incivek does not kill the virus. Incivek prevents replication of the virus.
In addition, it is possible that you also have an underlying Riba rash (in addition to the Incivek rash) but you may never know that for sure since you are off of everything now. I might add, though, that the severe reaction you had is typical of the severe Incivek rash, not a Riba rash.

Here's hoping that you will recover quickly and that the rash will resolve quickly. (However, be prepared that it may take weeks for it to get totally resolved.)

Best of luck. Please keep us posted.
