relapse

I had completed 2 courses ot ribivarin/peglatedinterferon therrapy and had thought the therapy was successful.
The virus was undetectable for @ 5 years, i do drink occasionally, do NOT do drugs, and take very good care of myself.
i had a checkup last week, and my blood cam back positive for the virus.
any other relapses out there?

When you say your blood came back positive for the virus.  You will always test positive for the antibodies.  Did they do a HCV RNA test which showed active virus present?

I can almost say with 100% certainty that you did not relapse after being SVR for five years. Get hold of your viral load tests -- both current and past -- and you will probably see what actually has happened. These tests are different from antibody tests which will probably always be positive as already stated.

There was a great debate about this very thing yesterday.  Some believe it is not possible, others say yes.  You would have to give specifics about the post tx bloodwork for people to comment on whether you really ever cleared the virus - or if relapse occured within a certain period of time and no additonal testing was done until recently.  Lots of things to consider when a person states they went from UND to positive 5 years later.

is it 1.9 log thats not even hundred per iuml blood, probebly fals positiv do a recheck.

When i spoke to my Dr. yesterday, he had just gotten the preliminary results.
he is conferencing with his colleague( who originally treated me for HEP C)
to go over the tests with him.
I have been going for regular checkups since the original diagnosis, this is the first time anything has shown up that was irregular.
