remedies for dry, flaky scalp?

remedies for dry, flaky scalp?

I'm at 32 weeks SOC treatment.  I've had lots of problems with dry skin, itching, etc. every since beginning treatment.  I've been washing my hair much less often, but have been able to continue using hair color until the last couple of months.  The last time colored my hair it's like it burned my scalp.  Obviously, I won't be coloring my hair anymore until treatment is over, but does anyone have any good remedies for putting some moisture back into my scalp?  It's been well over a month and my scalp continues to flake and itch, and itch and flake.  I'm sure the entire surface of my scalp must have flaked off at least 3 times by now.  I can't tell that washing my hair less frequently makes it any better.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I really suffered a lot also from the same thing while on tx.  A few things helped a little.  Less washing helped me some, but it was really the worst just after washing.
I used Nioxin Scalp Therapy (in the aqua colored bottle) which helped ALOT.  There is a kit that comes with a small bottle that you can apply directly to your scalp anytime, it's thin, like a lotion.   It gave some relief, very soothing.
Sometimes  I would rub olive oil all in my scalp and leave it on before washing.
I am about 8 weeks post reatment and my hair is oily again!!  It seemed to improve within a month or so.  I am so glad to have it feel better.
I hope this helps,

I just checked, because there are a lot, but the one I used is called, Scalp Recovery.  Again in a kit with a turquoise label.

I washed my hair only about every 3 days.  I didn't try olive oil, but I did use coconut oil on my scalp and in my bath.  I feel like it helped.  Also, I used NO hot water....everything was tepid at best.

I colored my hair through tx, but my hair dresser used a humidifier while my color was processing....looked like a hair dryer that you sit under only warm, moist steam came out.  It felt great.

And of course, the best way to get moisture back into anywhere on our bods is to drink more water.  Are you drinking enough?

Good luck to you...keep us posted.
