'riba runs'

Hey all, just wanted to ask, when will I stop having the runs?  Its gotten so bad that whenever I go I cry and am in such pain, My hubby finally got me to take imodium after I rejected taking anything for it as I did not want to take any additional meds even otc stuff. I beleive it is the riba and I don't wanna be taking imodium every day.

I have the same problem not sure which one causes it but I have read post after post about this same problem over the 3 yrs I have watched this site. It is a very common problem. If it gets bad take something I know you don't want to take more stuff on top, but you can get dehydrated, and sometimes cause bleeding as which was the case with me this week. I like pepto bismal (SP?). Last treatment this was only in the beginning, so maybe after a month or so your body will return back to normal. And one other thing is. I would not drink  too much apple juice. that can cause the runs too.
Take care and never trust a fart LOL!!!  Debi

My gastro said no biopsy was needed yet as my viral load is low at under 500,000 and all my liver enzyme tests come back normal to barely above normal. I'm feeling really good today and thanks to all for the advice.

are you taking your ribba after you eat? If not you should. I never had your problem with ribba but have with other medication I have to take I did find my body adjusted eventually.

You are lucky it will fly by quickly, the first 12 weeks just seemes to whiz by, and by then your already half way through, what is your viral load going in to treatment and what stage are you in , if they gave you a biopsy since you were a 2b.

Doc has me on lactalose x3 a day, I have the runs everyday, but on my previous 48 wk, riba didn't cause that problem, sounds like something else.

I've had the runs but usually the day after my shot and randomly with the riba - after the first couple of times - I take immodium and I'm ok.

Same here. I seem to have diarrea most days of the week right after I eat. I can't stand it either. It seems like it doesnt matter what I eat.  I've been trying to drink my 90 oz of water each day, but I find that too much water makes me not feel good either, I actually feel swishy & I don't like how I feel from too much water(if that makes any sense) I love cran-raspberry juice, so I try to drink alot of that instead of just water. Plus we get more vitamins with juice. (just stay away from the citrus juices, like orange & grapefruit) The acid might affect your stomach. Don't forget milk too. My nurse said that I can include milk in my 90 daily ounces as well. I have stopped drinking soda completely, and I don't miss it. Don't forget we need to stay away from caffeine, and we can't include soda in our daily ounces of fluids. Best of luck to you!!!

I hate to say lucky but I'm 2/24, genotype 2b, hcv diagnosed in 04/1999.  I've been trying to drink as much water as I can and actually have cut down on soda--don't even crave it! Water and apple juice seems to be ok for me.

Its a hard call as to which one does it the shot or pills or combo, but ive had this on and off, a least a couple of hard days a week, and never have ive been constipated on tx,Please make sure you get plenty of water any way you can get it down, One time my regular test ran the sametime i had , had a hard week and it read that my sodium was low and that prolly was the cause of it so please stay juicy, im on 40/48 , what shot are you on?
