Hi you have added a comment to a 3 year old thread. My suggestion is to post a new question so you will get answers to your specific questions.

Go to the top right of the page and select the green post a question link and ask away

Good luck and welcome to the forum

I have just recently got hepatitis c and I'm not taking any medications for it. But im experiencing some symptoms. The one I'm gonna address to you now is the one that I'm not understanding. Ever since I was getting symptoms I have noticed that everything I eat is extra salty tasting . even if ts not salty food. Its making everything  disgusting
What I'm trying to find out is if it is in fact from my hepatitus c. So if anyone knows if that's true or not I would appreciate it. And if u don't know for a fact the answer then please make sure u say in your comments that your only guessing or whatever . k thanks bye

Hi Linda-On the bright side it makes you drink more water, which is a good thing.I was on the SOC treatment and everything tasted like metal.I found that incorporating a lot of ginger in my food and drinks helped a lot.I even rubbed raw ginger on my gums. You can cut up ginger and mix it with hot water, drink ginger ale, whatever works for you. It's great for your nausea and digestion ect.

all the best to you

I have the same problem.  Ever since I started taking Vic I noticed it.  The only thing I can taste is spicy or sweet foods.  I brush my teeth and tongue non-stop throughout the day...using Biotene products.  It has helped some but hasn't gone away.  As advocate said "drink lots of water too".

Are you on Triple Tx with Boceprevir? That is what I was on, and everything tasted salty!  I just avoided foods that were in anyway salty, and did lots of nice fruit, like grapes, pomegranites, water-melon, etc. And drank tons of water~

I don't know if you are on tx or not.  When my husband was on tx, everything tasted different.  This is due to the changes in the salivary glands caused by the meds.  The meds cause dry mouth, which changes how things taste, how things smell, your appetite, etc.  Dry mouth can also cause dental problems.  I got my husband some Biotene products:  mouthwash, spray, lozenges, toothpaste, etc.  It helps with the dry mouth, which then helps the taste situation.  I also tried different spices on foods, served foods at different temperatures, etc.  That seemed to help as well.  As always, drink lots of water too.
