serious question about liver pain while tx almost over

prior to tx, i had dull liver pain off and on before tx for maybe a year.  i was naturally undectable since diagnosed in 99, but i did get tested due to sides, only due to peace of mind.  last july is when they said it was now active, after being tested yearly and being naturally clear. since 1994, i in no way put myself in any risks for reinfection so the doctor said it just happens some times. the doctor gave an ultrasound wich was great, and strongly is against a liver biopsy, becuase one, i have had an active virus for a year, and two, i am a 3A. the thing is, i have been still having very slight liver pain very seldom even through tx, and only have 2 shots left. i am undectable at 12 weeks.  i asked the nurse about this, cause i dont see my doctor until the last shot. the nurse doesnt seem concerned at all. do any of you think this is normal? does the peg, cause this and will it end? at the start of tx, my doc said it was most likely a lil swelling becuase it was now active. i cant help but be concerned. i dont or havent used any ciggs, booze or nothing since 1994. i eat healthy and exercise, but this damn disease is very scary and i just want it to stay the heck out of my body forever so i can continue my life without worrying about it.  sorry to babble on so long. hope your all doing well.

My doc said the same thing. I got this pain about the second month into tx for about a month it was pretty strong. It occasionally comes and goes now. It worried me to for awhile but not much now. I've been on tx so long I do find I worry about some things less. I think I am just too tired. Glad to hear your near the end of tx. LL

yes i hope the virus is gone for good.  the liver pain seems to be a common complaint both with the virus active and even after treatment according to what ive read on the net.  some people say they get pain off and on during tx.  i know i did.   i still get it occasionally now 6 months off tx.    even  after we clear the virus i think we still need to  take very good care of ourselves and our livers because its been thru a lot.

I just had a sharp pain in my liver.  When I called my doc, he said he wasn't worried about it.  He told me to take two aspirin and call him the next day if it didn't go away.  It did and I haven't had it since.  I like to think of it as the pain the dragon is going through in a slow death!

My husband started having pain in the liver area in May of 2000. We were told by doctors that it was an ulcer, it was because he was alittle over weight, and several other minor excuses for something they seemed very unconcerned about. In June of 2002 he was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. After doing alot of research on this disease I have realized that the medical profession will NOT admit that this pain that is experienced by many, many Hep. C patients is real and that it IS the liver.
The definition of HEPATITIS-- 1 : inflammation of the liver
2 : a disease or condition (as hepatitis A or hepatitis B) marked by inflammation of the liver
I would think that an anti-inflammatory medication would be given to help reduce some of the inflammation that is experienced in the liver with hepatitis.
The pain my husband feels is preventing him from working, well it has changed his every day life considerably. What he used to do on a regular basis-he can only think about now. He is taking prescribed methadone which helps the pain alot.
He went through 6 months of interferon/ribivirin treatment and has tested clean for the Hep C virus 6 months after treatment ended! BUT......the pain still exists!
I know I am tired of hearing that it is an idiopatheic pain--its there but they can't find what is causing it! They insist it is NOT the liver!
I think every person is different, every liver, every case of Hep C is different. Every person has had the disease for different periods of time and aquired it in different ways. The medical profession needs to listen to the patient and I think at that time Hep C patients will not have to live with any pain before, during, or after treatment.
