i also used a humidifier (along with what other people said)
netty pot with saline..really helped....zyrrtec and benadryll
I use the Neil Med rinse kit u can find at walgreens for 12$
I use Claritin-D, I think it works better than the other D's, and even though it's no drowsiness, it always makes me pretty groggy.
Ooooh does that bring back memories.....
I would stay away from any decongestant not only because of possible
sleep probs but they make things a lot worse in the long run.
My recomendation Breathright strips in combo with Ayr nasal gel.

Major nosebleeds and crusty nose. Yuk! I cant stand it! Use saline, vaseline and/or bacitracin....try to stay hydrated. Tried humidifier and couldn't tell a big difference. Waiting for southern humidity to kick back up.
I carry a eucolyptus gel w me. It helps some. I'm getting used to the weird nasal pitch. Lol. Benedryl helps, but dries me out more.
Nosebleeds result.... 14 more weeks for me!!
Karen:)
I use a netti pot , ocean spray, Affrin and benadryl. I also try to keep the bedroom very cool. I leave the window open a little to get fresh cool air. Keeping the room cool also helps with the rash . My husband wears a scully cap to bed.
"However, it will also keep some people awake especially when they first start taking it."
Yes Allegra D did exactly that to me. I'd stare at the ceiling for a few hours, then finally fall asleep. I can't take that at night, so Benedryl for me if the itchies are bad since it makes me drowsy. :-)
Hi,
I am sorry about the trouble your hubby is having. I took two antihistamines during treatment. Benedryl and Allegra D. The "D" part is important because it is a decongestant. It is available as an over-the-counter drug in most states. However, it will also keep some people awake especially when they first start taking it. I took it for a long time prior to treatment and it doesn't bother me anymore but still. Your hubby should ask for help with getting some sleep. Some folks here take ambien (a prescription). I did too Sleep is really important to your well being in treatment. Good luck to you and your husband.
