Hi softy4
yes the virus can go into remission. They say there is only a 3% chance of contracting hep c through sexual contact, but IMO any disease that doctors are still learning about the 'facts' can change at anytime.  I also would ask to see his labs to see if he is in remission to tell you the truth, but thats me.

Take some time and read through the threads of what people go through with this disease and treatment and you then can make an informed decision as far as if you want to have unprotected sex. Reading the threads might make 3% seem too high of a risk if you read for a day or two.

Glad to hear he is in remission. Many doctors even use the word 'cure.'. Wish you the best in your new relationship. Its nice that he told you about the hep. He didn't have to so to me it sound like you found yourself a nice guy. Honesty is important in any relationship and it sounds like your relationship is off to a good start. Wish you the best!

transmission of hep c from kissing does not happen, according to 'the body.'

Sexual transmission IS possible, usually male to female not female to male.

Fyi.

My hubby and I practiced very unsafe sex for years and he has never gotten HCV.

Very low to none proven crossover rate with sex.

The possibility is there - but no none proven cases of sex on sex... (not rough sex, mind you where blood is transmitted between both parties) but basic over the counter (or bed) sex... LOL!

hcv is a Blood disease - transmitted when blood from an infected person is passed into a non-infected person.

I've NEVER heard of it passing when kissing... Although - you shouldn't be kissing anyone if you have any open sores in your mouth.

*ICK*

LOL!
