shot 2 and follow up lab work

most here know in sept, after 3 shots, my doctor forced me off tx due to horrendous sides. today i had shot2, wich would have been shot 5 if not discontinued. anyway, my doctor gave me more zofran wich seems to be working so far. she said the pills are 20.00 per pill, 600.00 for a scropt of 30.  she also gave me a flu shot, the first i ever had in my life. my arm hurts so bad from where the nurse gave the flu shot, i can hardly lift it. is this normal? they also did blood work for wbc, rbc etc. doctor said, she will cont. the lab work as if i was never taken off tx in sept. this is good news cuz now i will find out if i am undectable at the begining of dec.  had shot2 and so far, not too bad. hope all is well with all.
GODBLESS

I do not know how bad your nausea is, but ginger containing products often help:  ginger ale (doesn't matter if it has gone flat), ginger snaps, gingerbread, etc.  Also, having 6 small meals, more or less, may sit better than 3 big ones.
I often find I am all of a sudden running on empty, and a small snack picks me up. I lean towards nuts cheese, and fruits, but a handy cookie will do.  Maj Neni

My new Internest Prescribed the Zofran today. 6 pills 2 a day. W/out insurance it would be 124.00 for 6 pills, because he says it also helps w/ fatigue. W/ my insurance, my co-pay would be 40.00 I'd say spendy!   Joni

Hmmmm, I dunno about the shot site (arm, thigh, abdomen) but folks are right, the pegasys.com site shows a video and a picture site that just shows injecting into the tummy area or outter thigh, with the pinching up a bit of fatty tissue.  I havent heard of the ice pack, but I bet it is to numb the area so it doesnt hurt when injecting. You could call Pegasys and ask their nurse if there is anything wrong with inj. it in the arm MUSCLE!  just for peace of mind, then next shot, ask her to put it in a thigh or abdomen site.  And I tried to look up Zofran to see if it is hard on the liver, but with my brain fog I sorta drifted off before I found that out.  It is very $$ but you have insurance right?  and if it helps WHY THE HECK Not!!??
I dont think your doc would give you something that is horribly harmful to your liver!  I think the Crystal Light isnt gonna kill your liver  either, it just has some artificial additives and like numerous things we eat, drink, take for pain etc have stuff the liver and kidneys have to process and excrete from our blood.  So, everything in moderation.  thats my motto for now (no alcohol, illegal drugs of course).  I get extremely thirsty on tx, so I have adapted well to drinking a gallon or two of water each day.  Dont be afraid of everything, think of all the KoolAid and pop we have drunk over the years, they are loaded with artificial colors and flavors.  We are still alive and kickin.  Remember when they said coffee caused cancer etc? and there are always gonna be people "poo poo-ing" what we eat and drink.  Just relax and dont worry so much.  Try to think positive, I kno it isnt always easy, but it helps your health.

i am on the pegysus interferon. i forgot to add, my nurse still injects me in the arm. when i asked her and another nurse if it was the proper spot, she looked at me like i just stepped off a U.F.O. she said, of course its ok, if it wasnt, i wouldnt be doin it. Galen, you mentioned that this is the first you heard of zofran being used for hepC and that you knew it was used for chemo.  i asked my doctor the same question and she said interferon is chemotherapy. in fact, she said interferon is actually stronger than many forms of chemo. what i didnt know is that zofran was hard on te liver.

Go to this page for injection instructions, it says never inject into a muscle or vein, did she pinch up some fat to put the needle in or just put it into the muscle or vein?

www.racgp.org.au/downloads/medicines/cmi/rocpgrst.pdf

you can try pasting that into the search bar, hope I got it right

Zofram works good but it is kinda hard on your liver besides being fairly expensive.  I only take it when I really need it so I don't lose any more weight. I posted yesterday pretty far down that my daughters want to hang me on the porch as a skeleton for Halloween but my wife won't let them

http://www.rocheusa.com/products/pegasys/PEGASYS_MedGuide.pdf     This should be a clickable link. It gives detailed instruction on injecting and says use stomach or thigh.    Joni

Zofran is a medication used for the nasuea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy.  First I've heard of anyone using it for HCV tx.

Arm tenderness is normal after the flu shot.  It will be better tomorrow but for tonight try some ibuprofen (if allowed for you) and an ice pack.  Which interferon are you using that caused your sides?  I had no idea Zoloft was so pricey.  Yikes.  I think we are all on the wrong end of this business!
