Methadone is a safe drug for people with liver disease. We work directly with methadone patients and have never seen a problem with methadone exacerbating the disease or interfering with treatment drugs. Diana Sylvestre, MD, from OASIS Methadone Clinic in Oakland, CA has done many studies with her patients.

No problem with the methadone. I have been on it for 14 years and found out in Dec. 08 that I was positive for hep c, I must have been exposed at least that long ago because I have not used since I have been on Meth. I have fibrosis 1. Just had a liver biopsy last week. The TX even works fine for us.I am glad I am on the meth because I have Fibro and it really helps with the pain.
