sip of wine

sip of wine

On New Year's eve I had a sip of wire - literally, about TWO teaspoons of red wine.

I know alcohol is a big no. I have not drink any (ZERO) for the last year , and all my life (I'm 52) I barelly drank on average 6 bears and 2 glasses of wine per year.

How bad is this teaspoon of wine I just had?
My judgement tells me it doesn't matter - am I right?

Thank you

Depends on the year.

And to you too, Mirceani. Of course, not to worry.

although to stop drinking alcohol is probably the most important thing to prolong liver health especially someone with HCV, an occasional glass of wine will have no effect on this. so what you did it no big deal.

Is this true?  I've been avoiding alcohol entirely since my dx, and never have been a  big drinker (maybe one drink a month if that much) but I would like to toast an occasion once in a while.  Is it ok to have a glass of champagne for a birthday toast?

Everybody has a different take on this subject.  If you have cirrhosis or are on treatment, no alcohol at all is permissible.  But if you are waiting to treat or have finished and if your liver is in decent shape, a very occasional glass of wine on special occasions probably will not hurt you.  And if you have a problem stopping at one drink, then don't have any.

Actually it's best not to drink at all with this disease, but I for one did have about 3 drinks during the six months between diagnosis and commencing treatment - with my doctor's permission.  After achieving SVR, I've resumed my heart-healthy regime of one glass of red wine with dinner a couple or three nights a week.  If you have any doubts about this, ask your doctor what he or she thinks.

Do what you do. However, for me I do not drink or eat any alcohol which includes rumcake, Nyquil, na beers or anything which will put a trace in me. That is just me but once you have been near death from this stuff you should/do not even think of using any alcohol products.....

I do wish you all good health and a great new year with hope that a treatment with better than current is released this year.

Doubt a tsp would hurt you,  GI told me that anything under 3 ozs, would not affect liver.  I don't drink at all,  except a taste at Communion.
In Vanilla? I am not giving up cookies or  the yummy stuff! But seriously who like Rumcake anyway? :>)
