sore throat/other post

by layla, Oct 18, 2004 12:00AM
While on tx I started having a sore throat, more like throat pain with some tenderness in my glands. I am still getting it and wonder if others experience this. I don't know if it's tx related or perhaps thyroid related. Any opinions or knowledge about this? Anyone else experience this? LL

You'll get input on this one I'm sure. I had sore throat and gland problems early in tx then later only dry cough for the rest of tx.48weeks. You could get checked but I'm pretty sure it's the meds.

For two weeks after I started tx my lungs and throat felt like they had been dry cleaned. And my throat was sore to the touch. All my glands checked out fine. Turns out the tx was severely drying out my upper repertory system. A dry throat can be sore to the touch I thought it could be my glands to. Using a humidifier and as much fresh air as possible helped out tremendously. So if your glands check out that should be something you need to consider.

Yep, me too, constant sore throat and swollen glands, and just like Chev, very swollen lymph nodes in the left groin area.   (What IS it about left-groin favoring women?)  But back to the throat issue-- it's just another sign of an activated immune system, just like the skin itching and the whole panoply of side effects that are the result of an overproduction of immune complexes.   In other words, it's all good.  :)

Yes, sore throat, raspy voice, wicked dry throat, mouth, gums, nose, eyeballs....it was as if my mucous membranes had evaporated.  I used BIOTENE toothpaste and mouthwash, available at any large pharmacy chain, and it lessened the dryness somewhat.  NATURAL TEARS for the eyeballs. I sipped on water frequently.  I avoided talking to people too much and I got on PRILOSEC for GERD. Apparently the gastric juices were crawling up my esophogus and irritating the vocal chords so much they had become inflammed.  I wasn't bothered by any acid indegestion or anything though-just a dry, raspy voice.
