sores

Hey I've had a rash off and on since treatment started its been unpleasant but not horrible for the most part and I can normally only feel it it can't really be seen except it looks like a sunburn sometimes. But the last week or so I've started getting sores its not rashlike it does kinda itch but it's sores that have scabs and bleed like a cut or whatever but I haven't cut myself. And they are in multiple places, any ideas?

Oh I am on treatment I don't think the sides are from the hep c I think they are from this stupid poison treating it. And this week has just been so rough.

I know we don't all experience the same things but when I had cirrhosis, I never had itching problems. My ankles and legs did get swollen but not until my cirrhosis was far advanced.
What did cause me terrible itching was after my transplant from a problem with my bile duct. It made the bottom of my feet itch~weird.

And other than fatigue, I believe hep C is fairly asymptomatic.

I think thar they are a new side not related to the rash they seem completely different and I tried the creams the drs gave me and they are not helping. And nygirl is right they are hard not pick at they are driving me crazy, I've always been kind of a picker. Ugh. They sides just seem to have gotten hella bad this last week and its really getting to me. But as far as test go I'm undetected still my enzymes are good, my wbc and rbc are low but that's understandable I don't know just frustrated. The nurse at the g.i. Dr seems completely oblivious to all these sides seems bewildered when I call about them which is also very frustrating

"So many times people describe a sx from treatment that also seems to be a sx of Hep. C or cirrhosis"
Now I would like an answer to that question too.  I have compensated cirrhosis but never had a swelling or scaley scabbing problem until I took the Victrelis.  Thus I don't think it is the cirrhosis but wonder.  How does the cirrhosis affect the ankles and itching?

Ninja -- your specific type of scabbies and the pattern of scratching and ending up with those little blood spots sounds very familiar-- on me, the legs and under the bra on the spine and a couple of other places.  My husband has psoriasis and I know you can get that from treatment but neither he or I think this is what it is.  Part of the problem seems to be the skin is now very thin, and it does not take much to scratch through it and make those little pin point blood marks that then scab over and then itch....

I use an assort ment of things and vary them up.  For about a month all I used was aloe vera gel.  Sometimes I spray often with Solarcaine.  Sometimes it is medicated Gold Bond.  Sometimes Neosporin.  Keeping my fingers away from it is the best way to help.  And for that I rely on the rx from the doctor for Hydroxine.  Hang in there, ninja

Oy. This sounds uncomfortable.  Are the sores related to the rash or are they a new development in addition to the rash? Are the sores completely out of no where - like you cannot connect them to the slightest bump or nick? Are they wound-like in nature? Do they bleed because you scratch or is the skin just sensitive and maybe more fragile? I get they are scabbing but are they healing at all?

Keeping them clean, dry and maybe protected with a little Neosporin might help but truthfully I would see a Derm (with your most recent set of labs) if you notice the sores are not healing &/or they are progressing. Last time I treated I developed a somewhat similar condition. I made the mistake of diagnosing myself from Google images since I could not really imagine what was happening was really anything more than a side effect that would resolve.

Yours could be nothing major but like lots of sides you have to decide just how much you'll tolerate before you consider other solutions. Translation: don't let this snowball :)

So many times people describe a sx from treatment that also seems to be a sx of Hep. C or cirrhosis. I can only guess as to what it is that is causing you to have it, but before I was undetected I too had the very same little sores. Sometimes, I would scratch my upper back and later find little blood spots all over the back of the camisole I was wearing that day. Sometimes I would get some on my scalp or face. I didn't do anything for them but they went away along with some other sx about 4 weeks into treatment (riba and 7977) I can only guess the stress on my liver from the inflammation was somehow related.
It will hopefully pass when you finish tx. Good luck to you.

I used bandaids. Really. I'd not scratch all day but at like 4pm I'd give up and scratch till I bled.  Go to a derm doc, they will help. They have miracle meds.
