stage 3 type 2A relapse after treatment

by jean377, Jul 15, 2009 11:39AM
Does anyone know about how long a liver at stage 3 with fibrosis will last or how fast the disease progresses after it is detected after a year of treatment

progression seems to be on a individual basis.  your age, your gender, your ethnicity, your lifestyle. you need to take care of yourself, there are a lot of sites that give you a liver healthy diet..do not drink, avoid toxins, exercise, gets plenty of sleep, etc.

but really the only way to know is by having several biopsies and charting the progression.

If you can cut and paste this to your browser, it is a pretty good thread from last month of fibrosis with a link to a slide presentation from Clinical Care Options.

It might answer some of your questions on fibrosis.

I am sorry for your relapse

You really will have to be vigilant trying to keep your liver as healthy as possible because unfortunately it's impossible to tell how fast (or slowly) liver damage will progress.

I'm very sorry for your relapse.  Have you spoken to your doctor about trying to get into one of the studies with the newer meds to try again sometime?  I surely would do that.

I was diagnosed a stage 3 so I understand your frustation at not treating successfully.  I assume you treated for 24 weeks. Did you have plenty of riba or did they just give you the standard 800?  Riba should be weight based they've discovered and even for a geno2 I think it's crucial.  Should you treat again treat with PLENTY of meds...especially in the first 12 weeks it's just crucial.

Good luck.
