Chris
i would drink water ....pure water most of the time....maybe start soon before tx....i wouldn't trust much else...power aid does't sound right to me...i did drink a little gator aid and i mean a little...the incivek can be nasty...get a soft toothbrush...my burning and yellow baby poop left around the end of week 3...but lots of other sx..you'll feel much better after the incivek.....good luck....billy
Hopefully your liver is not as bad as mine. Possibly you may get by with only doing 2 meds.
Good luck on the tx
I will be doing the same treatment as you.
From what I have read here it sounds like the rectal issue effects some worse then others, as well as rash and other side effects.
Thanks again for the info and Best of Luck to you!!!!
The insurance company should cover the third med if it is indicated (if you are Genotype 1). If they decline they have to give you a reason. Sometimes they just need more information.
If for some reason the insurance co. does not pay, you should be able to get help through the drug company. Vertex will cover the entire cost of Incivek if you have no insurance to pay for it. Also, some companies will help with co-pays too, even if the insurance pays for most of it. .
I have been on triple med therapy (Pegasys, Ribavirin and Incivek) for 7 weeks. Tomorrow I start my eigth week.
I don't see that you said which medications you will be on. I assume either Incivek or Victrelis. I think the rectal issues are mainly with Incivek. Both drugs have several similar side effects and they each have their own peculiar side effects.
I am also Genotype 1. My starting viral load was 14,400,000 and dropped to <43 at 4 weeks (still detected but <43) so I am hopeful.
Good luck on your treatment.
Wow, I haven't seen a list like this. I was just diagnosed with hcv will have biopsy soon and start tx in January. don't know if ins will cover the third med. Hope so. I must have gotten it via transfusion in 73. So its had a long time to do it's thing.
Wow, very informative, I knew this would be a good place to ask questions.
I really appreciate everyone's response's. Best advice usually does come from people who have been there done that.
If you don't mind my asking, are you still on the med's? If so how far along?
Thank you very much for the info!!! It really helps
thanks for the advice, I drink lots and lots of power aid ( I hope that's good for me ) and you can be sure there will be lots of business for Netflix.
Most likely John Wayne marathon
Thanks for the info, I will for sure have similar items on hand.
really appreciate it
Very much appreciated advice. I will be stocking up soon.
thanks a lot
Sherry,
Thanks a lot for the advice. Sounds like this will be pretty intense regarding skin rash and anal burning
Best of luck to you too!
Gene
I stocked up on lotions, soaps, and laundry detergent without fragrances or dyes. I like Ceravue and Cetaphil lotions, Cetaphil body wash and Tide Free and Clear.
I stocked up on snacks that I could grab and go for my afternoon 20 gm of fat and Incivek. You can search the forum for more suggestions but I had packages of peanut butter crackers, nuts, and Kind bars.
Make sure you wash all your clothes, sheets and towels before treatment with the dye and fragrance free detergent.
Above all stay hydrated by taking water with you everywhere.
Good luck, Sherry
Get some name brand hypoallergenic baby wipes and tucks pads, most likely you will get the anal burning and you need to keep the area spotlessly clean, don't leave any residue, if any is left it really irritates the skin, then use the tucks to sooth the burn and itch, if you stay on top of it from the start it is tolerable and managable and as b said drink lots of water. Also use hypoallergenic skin products (lotion, soap ect) to try and avoid the rash, both these symtoms are very common with the use of incivek.
Good luck to you and I admire your decision to treat again. I am sure others who are doing Incivek with jump in. I am doing Victrelis. My advice, lots of water and Netflicks.
Here are a few other items:
Tylenol for headaches.
Loperimide for diarrhea
Hemorrhoid cream for hemorrhoids
Prep. H suppositories
Huggies (or other brand name, unscented, with aloe) baby wipes
Keri lotion or equivalent
I am finding the rectal problems/pain/diarrhea come and go. I am not exactly sure if anything I am doing is affecting it. I take loperimide at the first hint of loose stools because I have found that the rectal pain is much worse if there are too many loose stools going through in a short amount of time. The loperimde does help.
Also I stocked up on high fat foods such as Greek yogurt, whipping cream, ice cream, eggnog, brats, peanut butter, avocados, etc. I always eat some food with the pills as well as drink something.
Hope that helps. Good luck.
