steatosis

Have to know. How many people out there have the steatosis caused by HepC G3? How does it affect you all? Has anyone had any luck getting rid of it? What about liver cleanse programs?

Thanks for the info.

Keeping your body weight index(BMI) and making sure you have no belly fat is the most effective  way.Having a fatty liver affects TX response too.

They found it on both my MRI and biopsy.  I am expecting it to go away on its own since I cleared the virus from my system with the immunotherapy treatment.

My steatosis was diagnosed by ultrasound one year after I cleared my genotype 3. At 5 years post-tx it was still there, but my understanding is that ultrasound isn't a very useful tool for gauging degree of fatty infiltration. There are drugs which can help remove this, but they come with a long list of their own side effects. Definitely something you'd want to discuss with a hepatologist or an experienced gastro before taking a serious course of action.

Hi Viosch I also have steatosis diagnosed by biopsy and ultrasound scan.Like you I want to get rid of it but am not sure there is much I can do apart from diet and exercise-I'm told that fatty infiltration is helped by both these things. At this stage am unaware of supplements or drugs that can be used. Can anyone out there help us out here.
Cheers

Hello I was diagnosed with Fatty liver disease and have been doing ongoing extensive research via the internet on what supplements I can take to possibly help remove the fat from my liver and protect my liver.  Here is the list of supplements I have found to be helpful.

alpha lipoic acid
Schizandra
Taurine
Tumeric
Hepatopro (Polyenylphosphatidylcholine)
Resveratrol
NAC (N-Acetyl-Cysteine)
TMG (trimethylglycine) (may cause increase in chloesterol levels)
Life Extension Super Curcumin W/Bioperine
alpha lipoic acid
Choline, Inositol, methionine
Lipase-chloride
SamE (very important)
Coenzyme A
Jiaogulan (Chinese hearb, southern ginseng)
Omega 3 fish oil

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot for this. I already use TMG but was unaware of its impact on cholesterol, I hope its benefits outweigh this.
