steroid inhaler (Advair) while on treatment

It has been a while since Iv'e been on line, although I would have

my daughter to inquire for me when I had a problem.  It is my 18th

week of peg/riba of 24 wks.  I have really had a time.  My problem

now is fatique and shortness of breath.

I was given the Advair inhaler last Friday to assist with

breathing but I had read on the forum no steroids.  Why should

one not take steroids and what happens if one does while on

treatment.

My hgb has been running 10.1 to 10.8 but it dropped to 9.0 at one

point.  They started to put me on procrit and during the process

of precerting, it came back up to 10.8 and did not want me to

start it since it was over 10.0.  Now, it is 10.1.

Also, at the time of precert, insurance wanted a ferritin level.

It was 720.  A ferritin level was drawn before I started

treatment and it was 105.  They just said not to worry.

You all helped me so much during some of my worst times.  Thank

you so much.

I think the steroids you shouldn't be taking are the injectable kind, not inhaling.

Steroids suppress the immune system which is the opposite of what inteferon is attempting to achieve.

I used steroid inhalers during treatment (Nasonex, Rhinocort) for my sinus problems. My liver specialist said not to worry.

I've used steroid inhalers and steroid creams for skin conditions - throughout treatment.  You only need to worry about steroid pills and/or injections.

I had to use some for a few period on tx.  They are steriods but in small doses from what my doctors told me.Also for just spurts.   Now if it is a couple  Z  pacs that you are taking...thats another story.
