MY MOTHER LIVES IN BAKERSFIELD CA. SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HEP C. HER HUSBAND WORKS, HAS HIS OWN GARDENING BUSINESS BUT DOES NOT MAKE MUCH MONEY. THEY HAVE NO HEALTH INSURANCE AND DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR MEDICAL. HER DR RECOMMENDED THE TX FOR HEP C. INJECTIONS AND ORAL MEDICATION. IS THERE SOMEWHERE AFFORDABLE FOR HER TO GET TREATMENT

Hi Lily,

It’s generally better to answer someone’s comments in the same thread; things get scattered and lost if you start a new one each time. I don’t know much about your mom or her situation, but if she has Hep C, the meds can sometimes be gotten for a reduced price, or for free from the manufacturers by calling them here:

Pegassist (Roche Pegasys system): 1-877-734-2797

Commitment to Care (Schering- Plough PEG-Intron system): 1-800-521-7157

Obviously, a prescription is required, and your mom will still have to pay for things like doctor’s fees, labs and procedures. The meds are fairly expensive; they can cost upwards of U.S. $30,000/year; call the numbers above for patient assistance,

Bill
