Within the past month, my abdomen has swollen to look like I am 6 months pregnant.
I have HepC, diagnosed in 2003. Did Interferon 2005, viral load went down, but escalated after 6 months.
Anyway, I have gained almost 15 lbs, no change in diet, or lifestyle, AT ALL.
I am wondering if it is possible I have fluid buildup? Any feedback will be appreciated.
You should see a liver specialist (hepatologist) and get yourself evaluated. Yes, you could have fluid in the abdomen (ascites) which is serious, but on the other hand, it could be somethinf more benign like IBS or even gas. A liver specialist will know what tests to run which may include an ultrasound. Try not to put off the doctors appointment for long.
Strange situation, but am not in the USA. presently. What I consider decent medical care is not available, at least as far as HepC. I would be reported and possibly deported if diagnosed.Hence why I am posting here.
Your advice hits home, I need to return to the States to see my trusted GI. If only to clear my mind. Thanks for the response, I'm putting other things before my health, and at this point, I need to reevaluate things. thanks again
