I haven't had a swollen tongue either, but I don't think that HepC is gender conscious.lol
People just have different symptoms, like I have swollen hands, some ppl don't.  Some ppl itch, and some don't.  good luck

liver disease, and HCV and low pituitary function which may be caused by HCV have as symptoms swollen tongue.

Mine was extremely swollen when I started tx. Now my freight train snoring is hardly a little gurgle (according to hubby)...the swelling has been greatly reduced.

The fact that you remained relatively symptom free for many years does not mean the HCV was not doing progressive damage to your liver. Often people remain relatively symptom free for 20 years or more.
As the disease progresses however, changes show up in many places in the body, not just the liver.

If you are not already in your later golden years you should consider treatment before reaching stage 3 or 4 of this disease. Your chances of successfully treating go down as the stage and progression of the disease go up. Ergo to return to completely normal liver function it is wiser to remember that a stitch in time can save nine.

Swollen tongue is just the beginning of the later stage symptoms which include swollen inflammed liver and spleen, rupturing blood vessels in the esophagus and elsewhere, distended painful fluid filled abdomen and much much more.

While it may be that not drinking, smoking anything, and a healthy life style may have extended your liver's lifespan there is no Chinese medicine that has ever been shown to cure this disease. There are numerous studies in pubmed, if you go there, on various herbs...dozens on milk thistle...but no cures ever..not one.
The disease will march on to it's inevitable conclusion unless old age or something else gets you first...so it would be in your best interests to at least look at the current pharmaceutical  treatment. Some genotypes have only a 50% chance of cure with todays drugs, but others have a 90% chance of cure. In either case, it's something to consider.

In Chinese medicine if the long is cracked so to speak that means too much fire or inflamation usually in the liver.
