symptoms or sides??????????

Wondering? Had symptom of mucus from the rear end ocationally before TX. Been diagnosed with IBS and diverticulous. Had colonosopy done about five years ago. Not a fun thing. Had Diarria for years before straightened out with digestive enzyemes. Then decided to be tested for Hep C, my brother died of it, liver failure. Any way, on week 17 of Pegasy/1000 copegus. The mucus is an ongoing thing now. Other sides have been many but varied and nothing too bad. Wondering? Was there is there, something in the colon? Talk of colon tumors makes me wonder.  My dr. didn't really say much except does it burn,,,,,,, no. Sssso,,should I be worried or wait till something really cuts lose??????? Also, if the drugs can kill the Hep C virus can it do in others, say cancer? Anyone done, doing colonics on TX? I think it might help. Thanks everyone for any info.

Since I've had endoscopies the nurses all know me and they've been asking when they're going to get to see my other end. Now, it seems. Thanks for the tip. Mike

Hi Mike.....remember to mix the Fleet stuff with clear juice instead of water (apple or white grape juice).  I'm told it helps although I didn't find out until after I gagged the stuff down in water.  I didn't have any cramping at all ~ just turned everything inside to water ~ it was kind of funny!  Colonoscopy is a piece of cake after what you've been through.  Just a nice nap.  Doc found two small polyps in me and removed them right then.  The nurses will love your sense of humor!

Your probably right about the colonoscopy but I really don't want to do it now. Is there any other noninvasive way to tell about colon cancer???????Blood markers for tumors or ?????????

I know how you feel. I have one scheduled for the 19th of this month and am not looking forward to it at all. I think that a colonoscopy is the only conclusive test to determine the health of the colon. There is a blood test that can indicate some types of cancer but the colonoscopy is the gold standard for colon evaluation. I think the preparation for the test by drinking that stuff is worse than the procedure. Anyway, good luck whatever you decide. Mike

Thanks for the tip but my doc insists on that other stuff. He's a friend of mine and did probably 20 endoscopies on me so I trust him totally and will go with his program. I've been through worse I'm sure and will get along okay. It's the results that scare me although this is just routine - no unusual symptoms.
I'm so happy you are feeling better. That was a tough time for you. I can well understand your reluctance to get back on tx. Good luck. Mike

Hey Mike.
I just had a colonoscopy this week along with everything else poked and tested..the colon/rectal doc  did not have me prep with that Go-lite stuff.. All he had me do was  24 hours of clear non-red colored  liquid diet and jello's. buy a bottle of Fleet phosphorous soda 3 oz. bottle. at 7 am add 1.5 oz to 8 oz of water..hold your nose and chug it down.. at 7pm do the same thing again.. then at 10 pm take 1 ducolax.. use 1 Fleet enema  2 hours before appt for  scope. I never had any cramps or anything like the other prep causes.

To All :  I am still off tx since last Monday's fiasco. I feel much better..still have 2 Dr appts this week.
Heart monitor showed a slight weakening of valves (they think from tx med's).
Have more labs  tomorrow to check status of  wbc and all that.. Antibiotics are working and all sores have cleared. Sinus's were x-rayed and they found several polyps in them so on to E-N-T doc. Still very weak so not doing much at all. Have lost 5 pounds in last 8 days. So drinking boost and other  nutri-drinks.
I will have to make a hard choice about continuing tx or not.
It may be best for me to wait until something less harmful comes down the pike. I am scared of tx'ing and scared not to.
The last week really took a toll on me..mentally, physically and  I just don't know what to do.

It may be that the Copegus is prematurely destroying cells (which it supposed to do) and everytime  you **** there may be an irritation of the mucosal lining of the colon that doesn't have time to heal because of the Copegus.  In fact, it makes me think that is why some of us suffer from dry mouths, throats and itchy skin.  Just my opinion.

I doubt that the mucus is related to the virus. I wouldn't advise you to "worry" but it may be wise to have another colonoscopy just to be on the safe side. I have never heard that the tx will protect from that kind of cancer. Interferon is used for skin cancer and perhaps some other types but I wouldn't feel the least bit insulated from anything other than maybe hep c because of the tx. Good luck. mike
