Thank you for the info i feel better already this forum is a God sent you wonderful people who share you life and stories are very appriciated by some one like me. I have learned more from your posts than in hours of research so thank you...also I feel I have somwere to go for support for a while I just thought I would be going at this alone. to answer stacies question yes I am waiting on insurance approval to see a GI and thank you for the hope not worrying about my husband and children will make acceptance much easier.
I am a full time nursing student trying to achieve my RN. also I homeschool my  four children 11, 10, 8,and 2. and I care for my elderly father. my primary doc said I will need treatment for six months to a year. will I lose my hair? and will i be able to maintain my life? how sick will I be? I have to maintain my gpa of 3.92 at school anything less will make it difficult to enter into the actual nursing program. so if I will be to sick to handle all of this i will have to push graduation back a bit. what would you all suggest? thanks all of you for listening I hope eventually i can contribute something besides ?????????????s   summer

Hi--I answered you in your original thread. Usually it's best to stay to the same thread because then we have the benefit of what was said earlier in framing responses--unless, of course, the new questions are unrelated.

You're welcome. :)  It would really help if there was a set of FAQs for this forum, but there aren't.

And welcome to the forum.

Welcome aboard summer. You came to the right place. Thick skin and a sense of humor is a requirement but don't worry if you don't have either right now...you will by the time you finish treatment.  Lots of shoulders to cry on here as well as more support than you can shake a stick at. If someone doesn't know the answer to your questions just stick around or come back later because your answer will be there.  Your journey is going to be an arduous one, don't let anyone fool you and since you've decided to take it, once you start there's no turning back. You won't be alone though. There's countless others here doing or have done the same thing so if there's answers you're looking for or if you need to vent or if you just need that shoulder, someone will be here for you. Take care and best of luck!

Unfortunately no one can answer this question because we all react so individually to the treatment drugs. We have one young lady taking pre-med in college who is carrying a full course load and doing very well. We have others here who pretty much are bed or couch ridden for much of treatment. Most people fall between. The cliche holds true with tx -- hope for the best but prepare for the worse.

Lastly, hopefully you will not treat with your primary doc. Best person to treat with is a liver specialist (hepatologist) and if one is not available then second best would be a gastroenterologist with a Hep C practice. But even then, I would recommend at least a one-time consult with a hepatologist before starting even if it involved travel.
