transplant & treatment

Hi to everybody!!! its been so long since my last post here due to a lot of troubles. My husband last diagnost having cirrhosis and in the long run we finally decide to go for transplant as best solution for this and it broght us out of the country where there is availabe donors. Unfurtunately 3 months had past still on the waitlist and no assurance when is the exact date of the transplant, we have spend a lot of thousand of dollars since the beggining and during the stay its really difficult situation for us.

Our problem now is from the start we arrive in the hospital the dr advice my husband to stop taking riva and stop any vitamins that he use to take daily befor we arrive here. but today the dr. advice him to take interferon due to higher amount of hcv on his blood on last test. it really drive us crazy we do not know what to do as if all of them has no knowledge an experience about it, they maybe just fooling us around take our money and thats it. we really do not know ehat to do now, we are just one of hundred and fifty plus patient waitng here. some of them come here not to ill us they we're now. and some has passed away due to no treatment and long time waitng...

please any body out there what your advice, does mu husband have to  follow them with interferon treatment???

Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis does about 170 liver transplants a year.  Their current waiting list is only 64 people.

Here is a breakdown of their wait list by Meld/Peld score:

Liver MELD/PELD <10 --- 12 people
Liver MELD/PELD 11-18 ---    22 people
Liver MELD/PELD 19-24 ---     9 people
Liver MELD/PELD 25+ ---    11 people

I doubt many on their waiting list wait more than a few months for a transplant.
