Firstly - has anyone had trouble getting  the injection on board a plane ?
Secondly - I also heard flying causes bad nausea on tx ?

Any thoughts ?

I'm in mid-trip now, domestic and international flights.  No trouble getting drugs aboard, just mentioned to the TSA people that I was carrying sharps and injectibles that had to be transported cold.  They hand-searched the medications bag.

No nausea for me (over the course of 6 flights) but in Denver I did request a wheelchair because between the anemia and the altitude I was having a lot of trouble breathing and was very weak.  Just ask for the wheelchair to meet the flight, they are very nice and it will get you to the front of all the lines, even immigration and customs.

Good luck.  Hope you're going somewhere good.

I have not had to travel with my injections yet but I have flown and yes it was awful for me.  Definately got Nausea and also got pre board access and help off the plane.

Best wishes

I didn't have any trouble traveling with my meds either.  But my GI did suggest that I carry a letter signed by him explaining to whomever that I was traveling with injectibles.  But this was also back when they h ad started banning liquids  in carry ons.

I'm getting ready to travel to California in May and I'll get another letter just to be safe.  My doc is good that way.  I've also already requested wheelchair assistance since I'm having the huff and puff syndrome.   My husband insisted that I do this since I'm going to be traveling alone.

Thanks for the advice.  Wheelchair treatment ... it's on !  Hope my flight is more like JD's than gizmo girl's.  Hey mouse, I asked you this question in a message not knowing that you answered here.  I will probably have the huff and puff syndrome too.  The drive to Northern CA in May will be quite a hike if I go ... probably like 800 miles.  I am flying to Oregon in early March, Pennsylvania in early May and Hawaii in early June.  I may be wearing myself out there but I am not going to lay down and let this get me.

Thanks,
Dennis

Forgot to mention that I got copies of my Rx from the doctor and carried them with the meds.  Nobody ever looked at them or even asked for them.  I would not carry a letter explaining why I have to travel with meds, that is protected medical information and the prescriptions are sufficient.  Its nobody's business why you need the meds.

Just take it easy on yourself and ask for help when you need it.

I haven't checked for a couple of months, but www.tsa.gov has instructions for all matters dealing with air travel including meds and injectables.

I have traveled with meds and syringes.  I agree with the above about carrying a note from your doc on formal stationary; and also declaring what you are carrying to the TSA.  ALso, do not put meds and syringes in checked bags.  I have had things stolen from checked bags.
